Should suicide be considered a crime [Punishable by law or otherwise]?

I'm interested in what the results o this will be. :3

...I'm kinda biased towards one position, tbh. I'm still not sure what reasons that the other position has to back up their PoV, so I made this to figure it out :D

Of course it should... #1 it offends the 14th Amendment/the 14th Amendment give's the government the right to appose suicide and #2 human life is sacred and it should not be taken prematurely by anyone.

So suicide should be a crime because the government wrote down some words that allows them to decide suicide is a crime? Please tell me you're joking...

and #2 human life is sacred and it should not be taken prematurely by anyone.

This is a non-cognitive argument. You're taking your personal preferences and deciding everyone should obey them. Do you see how egotistical this line of reasoning is?

Who are you to say the life was taken prematurely? It's not your life, it's not your call. Those who commit suicide die exactly when they intend to, there's nothing premature about it.

I say human life is sacred, therefore no one man can chose what everyone else "should" do and value.

Um ok so... the united states is a republic, correct? (or democratic-republic if you like)... and being that as it is... the the people give power to the government to do stuff... yet the government has guidelines, this would be the constitution, now this is insanely watered down I know... but essentially this is the case. So... yeah I think the government because they are bound/allowed to do so by the 14th amendment to prohibit the premature (sticking to it) taking of ones life.

Ok, I know how Christian this argument is... and ironically! that's because I am a Christian... what a surprise right? :)... but this holds no merit in and of itself in this argument as you say... but the united states was based on christian principles and this is where this argument holds merit... this country... if you believe in god or not (doesn't matter)... was based on christian principles... not principles that would support murdering ones self...

If not satisfied

Suicide is 1st degree murder.

if it is suicide, they are 1)already dead or 2)they have realized that they do not want to die and they are ready to find help

How silly. As though anyone should have more right to tell you whether or not to stay alive than yourself. =/

Also, how the hell would punishing someone already suicidal STOP them from being suicidal? What an utterly stupid idea...

Even if you could punish suicide by law it wouldn't matter, you would not have any one to prosecute. The person who committed suicide would already be dead.

Yeah, this is pretty much the side I'm inclined to believe. :P

Just wanted to clear one thing up -- It should be, should ATTEMPTING suicide be considered a crime.

Not attempting as in, "I CAN'T DO IT WAIT YES I CAN BIPOLAR AAAH"

Attempting as in, "I tried suicide and was either "saved" or I failed."

Sorry about that.

It is every human beings right to chose. no one should have the right to force you to live just like no one should have the right to kill you

If someone commits suicide, they won't be able to go to trial if it was a crime because they are dead. So it doesn't really make sense to make it a crime. Also, if it was made a crime be suicidal, it'd probably make them just hate life even more.

Side: Nope. D:<

Some people commit suicide because someone drove them to it. I don't think suicide should be considered a crime.
