Is the right to practice whatever beliefs you have intangible? If so then there's one Atheist who would die defending it right here.

Religious freedom is guaranteed in our constitution, yet the military regularly discriminates based on religion. Atheist soldiers have been harassed, denied promotion, and threatened by superior officers. Why is the organization designed to defend our rights and nation not respecting the people who bravely volunteered for duty?

Perhaps it's because people of faith have an easier time following orders without question. I'll admit that is purely an opinion, but it makes sense that if you're willing to make a leap of faith and believe in an omnipresent higher power that you might be more inclined to have faith in your Generals that they are making the right decisions for you.

As the US Military is an all-volunteer entity, they should be open to taking soldiers from any religion (or no religion at all). Church should be separate from state and it should certainly be separate from the military.

Our government is not religion-specific; neither should the military be.

Christian soldiers would be willing to die more than secular soldiers, in my opinion, thus my answer would be no.

Yes, Christian soldiers would be more willing to do more dangerous missions I would assume since they have nothing to fear if they die, but they would allow themselves to die before a secular soldier since they have the promise of an afterlife while a secular soldier knows that he must hold onto life because he does not get anything else afterwards.

This is a ridiculous question.

In my branch of the military there seems to be more irreligious than religious anyway.

Of course not. Many atrocities are committed in the name or religion. If it were Christian base, they U.S. Military would only make an elite terrorist group.

I oppose.

but it already is anyway. its also run by christians etc. so, it always will be. just like hitler forced his religion, so shall they force theirs.

ps. hey, TheNegative, in other countries, where they aren't christian, we are veiwed as a terrorist group.
