I was 18 once and I know what 18 year old people do. They should be in their home, in bed, by 10:00 PM. Luckily I am no longer 18 so I'll be able to stay out as late as I want ;)

Hey, I'm seventeen and I know I am perfectly capable of getting in MORE trouble before ten. Seriously. Also, with extra-curriculars, you can some nights be at SCHOOL until eleven or later.

It is true i do after school things and i end up staying till sometimes 1 in the morning... I'm only 12

We do need curfews because seriously they are going to get into trouble anyways and everyone argues that we have to trust them and that it is the parents responsibility, but most parents do not do a thing and they just let them do whatever. Also the parents may say for them to be back at a a certain time, but that doesn't mean they will be back at that time. If we have curfews, police will make sure that they are home on time and that they will be home by 10. But if we don't have curfews they will be free and the cops can do nothing about it because it is not law.

Side: Hell Yes

They are minors and minors must be protected, so, a curfew is necessary.

No I believe that Florida's State Legislature should toss this ' idea ' out the door. This would intervene with many kids' life styles. What if we told adults that they had to be back home at 12 when most parties do not start until 12? I know as a kid that when I take a girl out to a movie I do not want to say ' hey babe lets go see that horror movie at 4 o clock so we can make sure we have time to get home '. That would be ridiculous to think that my life would all of a sudden revolve around a schedule. For minors that cannot abide by regular rules and laws should have consequences, and in fact they do. That is the current extreme and it should stay that way.

I do not believe that the State should not even have to think of a decision regarding this idea since the whole thing is ludicrous. That us kids that are responsible should be treated as though we are irresponsible.

Personally I work in a restaurant that would literally make it impossible to be home before 11:30 at the earliest possible the latest being around 1 AM. Working in a restaurant may stink but as a young teenager I am happy to have a job when many are struggling to get them. To take my job away over a stupid curfew would be incognizant.

I find this idea ludicrous as well as the Sunshine States ideas.

FYI, curfews do not apply for school, work-related, or religious events.

No, simply because it imposes on peoples freedoms and rights to live in a free country. People have got to stop relying on government to pass laws that make parenting easier. Where would they draw the line, first a curfew set at 10 pm then a law that you must sleep before midnight? This idea of a curfew making a city, country or district safer is bogus. Most young adults want to hang out after that time anyway, resulting in more police work, higher taxes, more tickets given and "crime" committed causing young people to have criminal records. The idea is intrusive and has plenty of side effects to the country and psych of the population.

First of all this argument is fundamentally flawed, making cocaine illegal imposes on people freedoms, yet no one argues that it is immoral or wrong to have it so. Also the slippery slop argument is flawed, saying that pretty soon they will make you go to sleep at 12 or w.e wont happen, because this is a democracy, there are inherent checks and balances in the system (About 300 million of em, haha) to make sure that kind of thing doesnt happen. Further more, Even if a curfew was set, and even if people still remained out after that time, a curfew can only inhibit you from being outdoors, so you can still be in clubs or movie theaters or whatever you are doing after 11, however you just can't be out on the streets. That being said, if a cop pulls you over because you look under 18 (Which they can't do, so if you get busted for being out after curfew its because you were breaking some other law as well) you will most likely be given a warning, not any sort of punishment or conviction that would go on your criminal record (which is also, coincidentally wiped clean at the age of 18, barring perhaps major crimes, which staying out after curfew is not). Also you list none of these "Side affects" to teh psych of the population, for the record i live in an area with an 11 oclock curfew and there are none of these apparent side affects.

Fool a cop can pull you over for ANYTHING at ANYTIME if you are a teengaer. They dont need a reason and there is no way you can legally fight it. According to the 'civilized' world any one under age 18 cant make any sensible decisions and is too full of hormones to do anything but eat and sleep and cause trouble. i don't know where you got these ideas of freedom but wherever you are from let me leave this sorry excuse for America where the constitution is a joke and the federal govt. has unlimited power(checks and balances are meaningles) and live where you do. Sheriffs have threatened to Quote' beat the shit outta my white- ass' and called me a mother fucker because i was at the park at 4pm on a tuesday.

You can be at those places after curfew hours but how do you get home? teleport? the police will see you walking back and unless a nigger cop stops you, your going to have something really bad happen because you were 2 blocks from your house.

Side: No

It would be to difficult to enforce in my opinion. It also stereotypes children under the age of 18 to be wrongdoers.

If i want ot go get some Whataburger at 2 am because it's friday night and i've got nothing better to do then i can. No cop or government person can say i can't.

the first amendment says we can assemble peacefuly. the curfew violets that right. sure we can still asemble, but not after 10 oclock? the gonverment is not a baby sitter. that would be your parents and if they dont watch you then the frigging government shouldnt have to interfear with our rights, the curfew is stupid and wrong. the curfew is cause some kids are stupid. but for the mostpart most kids are quite mature. so just cause some of us abuise those rights does not mean we all deserve to be punished for it. so my vote is not for the curfew. YOU CANT STOP ME!! haha but if i want to go to mickyd's at like 2 in the morning i cant? wtf is with that??

Parents are perfectly capable at setting curfews for their own children. My brother generally doesn't arrive home from parties or friend's houses until midnight. Also, there have been nights where me and my friends have gone out for walks after 10. This does not mean that we are doing anything wrong or illegal.

i don't think there should be a 10 oclock curfew when it comes to doing something you love, caring about others, looking at different prospectives and keep around the people important . we should help support but also learn to take care of ourselves as well as others

I say there shouldn't be for several reasons: First it's repugnant to the USA's tradition of the freedom of public assembly, second it gives police yet another reason to impose themselves into people's private business and third it's a waste of taxpayer dollars. Instead of chasing down teens who are out past 11, let the police go after the murderers, rapists, arsonists and carjackers that prowl the streets.

Leave the curfews up to the parents!

Should children under 18 have a curfew? Yes, but that is not for the government to decide. Any rules pertaining to curfew should remain with the parents.

Sometimes kids have a lot of homework and if they have to go to bed at 9 o'clock they will not be able to do there homework.

And some kids don't want to go to bed that early but they can loss a lot of sleep..................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................//////////////////////////////''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''';;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;ppppppppppppppppppppppppppppppppppppp[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[]]]]]]]]]]]]]]]]]]]]]]]]]]]lllllllllllllllllllllllllooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkooooooooooooooooooooo0p00000000000000000-----------------------===========================\\\\\\\\\\
