Torture is technically already abolished by the 8th Amendment.

Definitely. We should not stoop to the enemy's level of barbarity.

If you don't mind me asking, why were you tortured? I'm sure it's a sensitive topic so no worries if you don't wish to speak about it.

Side: Yes.

Even if he was tortured it has no weight in this debate. And "level" used a lot but is not a logical thing. The tactic torture is used for the greater good. There are more then a few use's for torture one of which [popular one] is it can be used on certain individuals to save many peoples lives.

Could you give an example of how torture can save many people's lives?

Can you then give a real life example of torture doing this?

Side: Yes.

Side: Yes.

Not really, but we should see that no one is tortured without sufficient reason.

Because there has to be some punishment.

People have the absolute right to feel safe. Torture is a human rights violation. You were never tortured, so what would you know? I was, so I know what I am talking about.

Side: Yes.

Strange to hear a Christian saying that.

You advocate for eternal torture being good, and here you're saying that it is a rights violation?

Absolute right means that under no circumstance can it be taken away from someone. Do you really believe it is an absolute right?

In prison for the rest of your life is punishment. Torture is not a punishment, it's barbaric cruelty.

In prison for the rest of your life is torture.

Anyway, you talking about solitary confinement?

Side: No.

There should first be generally or legally accepted clear definition. As it is we have outlawed torture, but the definition is fuzzy enough that a number of common practices could potentially qualify.

Fair enough, I wanna know how you define torture..................................................................................

torture of any evil person could leave to many peoples lives being saved.

Side: No.

Nope. To be honest, the entire "cruel and unusual punishment" thing is total BS. Rapists should be castrated. Serial killers should be burned at the stake. The whole 8th amendment is just an ego stroke to shallow people who want to consider themselves good people, and have watched to many cheesy superhero movies with the cliche that "compassion is what separates the good guys from the bad guys."

Torture is appropriate if it helps to protect us against terrorists. Waterboarding is a form of torture supported by Trump administration
