Should we be upset with the Democrats or the Republicans

An article from The Week: http://theweek.com/bullpen/column/205792/the-republican-war-on-the-constitution

How true can we say this article is? Are the Republicans attacking our Constitution, or are the Democrats? Or should we just be upset with partisans?

Democrats

The Republicans have been obstructionist ever since Obama became President.

The Republicans in congress keep bitching about things the president wants to get done but have nothing to offer on their own, the only thing we need to be upset with Democrats for is letting this happen.

While what I believe of this article would be fought by liberals, I will answer democrats for this reason, the Democrats don't come out and say exactly what this article says Democrats are for.Obama stated his stance on same sex marriages(same as many Republicans including Rush Limbaugh and Sarah Palin),this article tends to portray the Democrats as fighting for same sex marriages. What is Obama's stance on the mosque at ground zero? Gibbs states this is a local matter and the white house has no comment. The Democrats won't tell you their stance on these controversially issues because they are in the minority, so that is why I choose Democrats in this debate.Anger should be directed at the Democrats because they will not voice exactly what they are wanting to do and that is what is slowing this country down right now, the uncertainty.Stand up for what you believe in and I think the republicans are doing a better job of that right now.

The only time I've supported a democrat was in 2004.

Recent events have been worsened more by the Democratic party than the Republican, although neither party is ideal.

Side: Democrats

Both parties have had their ups and downs.

Right now I am upset with democrats. Currently they are the ones who are attacking the constitution. They want to take away our legal guns which will do nothing to stop the illegal ones, have already spent trillions of dollars to little or no progress. They want to continue to increase our taxes and then spend their spend it, rewarding those who mooch of the system, and penalizing those who have earned their living instead of fixing the system.

We should be more upset with the Democrats than with the Republicans. I'm not a US citizen but I have great hopes for America. The founding principles of the nation are amazing and undeniably more forward thinking than any other. The Democratic perspective is closer to the high minded moral intent of the founding fathers than is the Republican perspective. Somehow, I find that getting so near the goal of a truly egalitarian society and then wilfully abandoning it is a far greater transgression than having no concept of the principle in the first place.

(Good question. Venting bile over.)

But it is not really willfully abandoning it. At every turn in the legislative process, Democrats were blocked by Republicans. Admittedly, the Democrats could have been more aggressive (I think having a big majority and a president got to their heads so they became arrogant), but should we really give the next Congress to a party that merely wants to block all measures by Democrats, regardless of benefits? A party that will pass legislation that will most likely hurt the economy or peoples' liberty?

Ok. Wasn't sure whether to click support or dispute. I choose to support your argument but dispute your side.

I'm not saying we should (I mean you should... I get so riled up about US politics almost as if I'm a US citizen) favour the Republican perspective. Whenever someone advances their political views, my bullshit detector goes on high alert. It gets tripped far more frequently with Republican speakers than with Democrat speakers. I think the basic social gist that Democrats promise (empty promises) are great but they (Obama) aren't coming up with the goods. The American people suffer as a result of this. The Democrats have the power to change things but are too gutless to do it.

I say we should be upset with the Democrats more because they are in power, they've been put in power to take specification actions and all the American people are seeing is mealy mouthed double-talk telling them "Well, I know I promised you this but...". Not good enough. Americans deserve more.

It would be a travesty to have Republicans in power again but we have more reason to be upset with the incumbent government. Such high spirits. So much laudable intent. So few results.

Actually the Republicans really the Conservatives hold the ideals of the founders while the democrats are opposed to the concept of individual liberty

Side: Democrats

Neither sides hold the ideals of the founders, which is good, considering the founders ideals included justifications for slavery, a lack of women's suffrage, dismissing the humanity of the native peoples, etc.

And no, Democrats are not opposed to the concept of individual liberty. Why are you opposed to the concept of a legitimate conversation?

Side: Republicans

We should be upset with both (but mostly the democrats). If anyone (probably republicans) wants to see real hope and change, vote for Paul Ryan in the 2012 presidential election!

Side: Democrats

Democrats have always been idiots. Liberalism only works until you run out of other people's money.

I am a liberal who opposes the Democrat party because they are not actually true liberals. That is like saying that Republicans are true conservatives. Both sides are getting screwed.

Side: Republicans

At least the Republicans are honest about being hateful jerks. Democrats pretend to be profreedom liberals when actually they compromise with Republicans too damn much. That is why I am more angry at Democrats. They are lying to liberals like me.

They pass legislation without reading it.

They made millions of people lose their health insurance.

The made the cost of health insurance for millions of people to increase upwards of 30%.

The are trying to confiscate our weapons, and remember the 2nd is there to protect us from the government, it is not about hunting.

The democrats allowed our ambassador to be murdered in Libya

The democrats allowed obama to make a mess of the ME

The democrats and obama hate Israel and the Jewish people

That's like saying Republicans allowed our world trade towers to be bombed.

Most Jews in the United States are Democrats, but nice try.

Pelosi was on TV telling the other democrats they had to pass it to find out what was in it

You may want to look at current events

Jews that support obama and the democrats are supporting people that want to destroy Israel and the Jews
