Should we get paid at school?
This is an issue that is huge for students. I mean we go to school from 9:00AM to 3:00PM everyday from Monday-Friday. We typically go to school and do homework from Kindergarten- University and we never earn a cent, besides knowledge. I mean knowledge is important but shouldn't we get paid for our devotion and hard work? It's the same as going to work everyday, isn't it? Only instead of school knowledge you learn business knowledge. Isn't that kind of the same thing? I mean adults get paid for experience, why shouldn't we kids?

We would learn to save money for what we really want because we could only afford so much, therefore we would learn what's really important. Like clothes. Most kids don't know what it is to actually have to buy what they need and want. Their parents simply buy it for them, they don't earn it. If we got paid at school parents could make kids buy their own things, therefore teaching more kids the lesson of budgeting. Side: We should

Kid's would be able to help parents if parents were on low income pay. They would be able to help each other, and families would make more money. Think about it, if you put poor children in school they would have more money to give to their parents. That could help break the poverty cycle Side: We should

It could benefit poor children and low income parents Isn't that significant? People, it could help end the poverty cycle. I mean don't most kids in poor countries stay home because they need the money? Well they could get the money and an education! It could really help the world! Side: We should

I do think it's a good idea to compensate students in some circumstances. I think market-principles can be applied to help encourage learning and growth. For instance, I think its at least worth a try to start paying kids for A's and B's. I'm not sure what rate the market would bear, maybe $10 for each A and $5 for each B? A secondary benefit would include an early education in personal finances. Side: We should

Schools are like businesses, especially private schools and colleges. We pay them so that they can provide us with a service. If we were paid at school, it would be completely one-sided: it would be like the principal saying "Ok, I'm going to teach you things that are important for your futures and I'm going to pay you for it. What do I get out of it? Nothing(ok, maybe some satisfaction)." This would probably cause a shortage of teachers. Side: We shouldn't

Well, there is already a system of getting paid, as xaeon stated, where students are receiving something for their work. Knowledge. The simple truth is that we leave with more than what we came with; able to do more, think more, and be more in the future. As for the hard work and diligence, there is already a system to reward good habits. Those who study and work hard leave the years and years of schooling with more than those who don't study, don't work hard, have other priorities, or just don't care. Side: We shouldn't
The amount of education you receive should be worth more than money. Plus you'd be getting your money back when you've already paid the school to begin with. Therefore, school would have to be free to attend plus they'd have to pay you. Where's the money for teachers, books, after school sports, etc.? Such a dumb question, seriously. Side: We shouldn't
