Should we teach hacking in school so people can understand to secure their data?

So here's the thing. Hacking is cumulative, so it would require a good amount of prerequisites that a lot of schools don't currently offer anyways, despite the fact that these prerequisites have other uses, but that's beside the point. Understanding hacking gives one the foundation to secure their data the best. On the other hand, we had better teach the kids computer networking, Linux, and some computer security knowledge first so they can know what their doing pen testing their own devices or ones they they have written permission to test and improve security of.

According to any good hacker, even a white hat, a hacker has to learn hacking on their own to be effective. We probably could teach CISCO networking in high school, as well as other certifications, or at least make other trainings available for students who could then learn the prerequisites to hacking. We could offer self-teach certification courses in hacking, but the student still should have to pass a test to show they know what they're doing.

That said, it should be an elective, not mandatory but we can teach students to be white hat.

So here's the thing, mate.....

Most acts of hacking are technically crimes.

Therefore, no I do not think an act that is mostly used to commit a crime should become included in regular scholastic curriculum.

Here's the other thing......

Hacking IS taught in computer science courses at University. Also in an college or tech school cyber security course. This is my field, actually. For my final exam when I took my first Network Security course, we had to hack into a website our instructor specified.

Cheers.

If we can do it at a University with college students, why not do it with high school and middle school students? Why limit it to college?

Also, you're saying it's being done. That's different from saying it should be done right?
