Should you judge a book by it's cover, should you judge food based on an Instagr

Have you every photographed your food in a restaurant and shared it online? In the age of social media, uploading photographs of our food online has become a everyday occurrence, however, have we got to the stage where we judge our food based on a photograph, as opposed to it's taste? How do restaurant owners feel about us sharing their food on social media? Are we robbing customers of their experience tasting the food? Are we becoming more anti-social by taking photos in restaurants?

The phrase "we eat with our eye's first" isn't just an off hand comment. Typically we judge everything first by what we see, then by how we experience. So while visual judgement may be quick, we should try not to let it determine our experiences all of the time.

Do we really judge food based on a photograph as opposed to how it tastes? No.

How do restaurants owners feel about us sharing their food on social media? In most cases, free advertising is awesome! However, if one were to slander an establishment it might not bold to well.

Are we robbing customers of their experience tasting food? No. We aren't putting a gun to their head telling them, don’t eat this.

Are we becoming more anti-social by taking photos in restaurants? No. In fact just the opposite. The more information provided to the public, the greater the opportunity for social discourse.

Questions for you:

In the today’s Western Culture (North America, Europe) who stands to lose the most, if people (like you and me) don’t believe or accept the notion that social media is destroying one’s food taste and restaurant experiences?

Here’s a clue: Social media is tool of freedom of speech.

That is an excellent insight, I believe in regards to social media been a platform for freedom of speech, i believe that the people to loose most from this view are governments themselves, based on the U.S. First Amendment allowing individuals to express themselves "without interference or constraint by the government". Without grounds such as profanity, copyright impeachment and words of hate to interfere on, the government are the ones to really loose out, as they cannot act out against this viewpoint.

I guess that the only other people to really loose out would be individuals whom have been affected by social media and have had their food business criticised and "destroyed" by individuals who post more hateful comments on social media and abuse freedom of speech.

I hope this answered parts of your question, i had to really challenge myself to compose an answer for this question. I would love to hear what your answer to that question would be and where i can improve my answer.
