What is the argument for same sex schools? The lack of 'distractions' from hormones? In a world we we acknowledge the existence of homosexuality, that argument is outdated.

Is it because of the health ed differences between the two? I don't think that there are enough topics (or any topic, really) that only one sex should be taught and the other should not.

I'm not really sure what the other arguments are, and I can't see any reason why we need to emphasize the idea that men and women should be separated in an environment that doesn't require it.

i wouldn't say it's a great simulation of life in the future, and therefore bad preparation for life as an adult. additionally, it would probably reinforce gender roles and stereotypes, particularly against the other gender, if they are unable to contact/ have a deep understanding of those other groups.

but i'm curious as to why you might think single sex schools are more beneficial, and to what purpose?

As previously stated, yes, now that homosexuality is out there in the world, single sex schools become pretty pointless. Also, making boys and girls believe that you are supposed to be separated from one another will give them a sense of estrangement and awkwardness between the sexes. They'll have a very hard time being able to form a friendship that doesn't develop into an immediate relationship and also look at each other like foreign species. I'm not saying this is always the case, but boys and girls will not know what to expect from one another, and will only have stereotypes to go by, which we all know is not a good thing. Honestly, I believe this will create more sexism, estrangement and awkwardness between the sexes.
