So what is a Mercy Killing ?

I'd define a mercy killing as painlessly killing someone who is in constant chronic pain to put them out of their misery. If someone has no hope of recovery and is constantly in agony then I'd argue that it's best for every party to look to euthanasia - granted the person suffering agrees to it, of course. Drowning, smothering and strangling are both extremely painful and uncomfortable processes. I would not condone them as methods of assisted suicide. Even a bullet to the head is better than those three, as barbaric as it is. 2
