So why is it Democrats are not making laws that would mandate background checks in bars?

Can you see the total laughable claim from Democrats that the only reason they are trying to force more gun control laws is to save lives? They ask why would honest law abiding Americans resist gun control laws that supposedly would save lives.

If Democrats are so concerned about saving lives, why don't they want more laws when it comes to the higher numbers of alcohol related deaths? So let me ask a question to you folks who have no problem with more intrusive gun control laws. Would you mind having a back ground check in your favorite bar or nightclub before they give you a drink? Would you mind being checked for mental illness before being allowed a drink? It would save lives from repeat drunk drivers or maybe save lives from people with mental illness who become dangerous when they drink!

What you say? You say you have never had a DUI, and are a responsible drinker, and why should you be put through these annoying time consuming checks like some kind of criminal?

People who like hunting or target shooting or protecting their homes say the same things to controlling Democrats who have an agenda to take our guns one step at a time. We don't like being treated like criminals. Would you like being treated like a criminal when you get a drink?

Think before supporting more intrusive laws against gun owners just because you don't use guns. Think about how you would feel if they come after things you do like.

Don't tempt them. They just might do it.

I believe liberals go after guns because mass shootings are very dramatic and are easy to put up on the news and make people scared. Sure drunk driving may kill more innocents but you don't get a good news story from a car crash. School shootings are far more dramatic and cause much more fear. This makes people irrationally weigh mass shootings as a bigger problem than it is. But given that fact it may actually make it a more important problem. Fear is something worth getting rid of and you are not going to get the news to stop covering it so why not try to stop mass shootings even if you could save more lives elsewhere?

On a even more pessimistic level the drama of mass shooting can be exploited by liberal politicians to score political points with scared voters.

Oh and I own a LOT of guns but would still like to see more restrictions put on ownership. I have been trained through the NRA on gun safety and have noticed that most gun owners know absolutely nothing about gun safety. It is just a matter of time before they blow someone's head off on accident. Most people, and until recently including myself, do not properly lock up their firearms away from teenagers and children. You never know when a teenager in your family is going to go psycho and try to shoot up their school.

I would support licenses for firearm purchase that required safety instruction. I am not sure if I would support home inspections for proper storage though.

We've had many guns for centuries without mass shootings of kids in schools. We have no need for more gun control measures that would not have prevented any of the recent shootings. Talk about lunacy and admittance that savng lives is not the reasons for trying to take our guns. To any thinking adult it is obvious that guns are not the problem.... our culture is the problem.

So tell me the motive of people who NEVER address the core problem of an issue but rather try & push an agenda that started many years before any of these school shootings happened.

You never answered me. How would you like to have background checks every time you wanted to have a drink in a Bar, or buy alcohol at a liquor store?
