The businessman has the vision, the ambition and takes the risks. The whole point of being in business is to maximise your profit margins, but of course paying all just and lawful taxes. Once the entrepreneur decides that the taxes on his profits have become unjust then he/she will almost certainly relocate their business. High corporation taxes will also deter inward investment and stifle the expansion of existing concerns. The sanctimonious shithead councillors must have childlike mentalities if they think all they have to do to generate revenue to finance their cockeyed benefit programmes is to raise business taxes. It is galling to have these parasites legalize theft by passing legislation which permits them to put their greedy hands into your pockets to give to an bunch of workshy, low life spongers. Without taxes, the government does not function. Period. Yes it sucks, but it sucks less than not having roads, police, firefighters, military, and all of the other things that make society possible. Yes, we need to figure out how to cut out waste spending- especially for the federal government- and yes, there is such a thing as too much taxation. That said, I'll take this over any new tax targeting the middle class or below. At least the people targeted in this tax can afford it, and if you're grossing 20 million a year and can't afford this tax you're a terrible businessman. And cry me a river for Amazon being taxed 20 million dollars. God gets a loan from these people every so often, 20 million is a drop in the bucket. Did you pay attention ? I don't know how you read that and got the conclusion that they were quadrupling an existing tax, it says pretty clearly that they're just now implementing the tax, of only 500 a head. I'm with you that they need an actual plan of what they're going to do with the money, but I genuinely don't care that a business making 20 million a year is getting an extra tax that they'll barely notice is gone, nor do I care about whether the people making these decisions are gender confused or socialist. Seriously, why do you care? Assuming your income is around average, this tax only affects people that make about 19.97 million more dollars per year than you do. And there's a lot of nonsense to laugh at from so-called progressives, but it's pretty low-hanging fruit. At least in this case, the people who are being taxed can afford it, unlike smaller businesses or the middle class. No one is arguing that paying a reasonable level of tax on profits is a necessary evil. Being penalized for your success, innovation and hard work with exorbitant tax levels is unacceptable and will backfire, in this particular case, on the people of Seattle.
