It's always scary when you've never done something especially when it may involve needles, scalpels and pain. I don't know what type of procedure you're having but it will probably be painless. Sometimes you may have pain after the procedure but usually the Dentist or Oral Surgeon will give you something for the next day or so. Not to worry JESSEM, it will be over before you know it if he puts you out and if he doesn't, he's usually numbed the area sufficiently for you not to feel anything. Good luck and bring your favorite CD with you to listen to while he does what he needs to do. Side: Oral Surgery is a snap

Oh ya, I remember getting my wisdom teeth out. That was awesome! The only freaky part is before they knock you out after putting in your IV (supposing you go to an oral surgeon instead of a dentist) they hook you up to a heart moniter and tell you everything that could go wrong and then they flip a switch (metaphorically speaking) and next thing you know you are being woken up. It doesn't even feel like any time has passed but you feel really tired afterward and your mouth feels bloody and swolen. But if you use this stuff called (Arnica?) your mouth won't turn into "beaver cheeks" (as they call them). Good luck and have fun with all you can eat ice cream! Side: ICE CREAM

I don't know what your getting done, but in my experience, it wasn't that bad. I got all 4 wisdom teeth out at the age of 16 (young, right?) The surgery itself was quick and painless of course. The only part that sucked was when I ran out of Vicoden. Then I had the most intense pain EVER. Therefore, GET PAINKILLERS!!! Side: Oral Surgery is a snap

Okay, I've looked all over for the exact stats, Obviously it's a conspiracy, because they're nowhere to be found, but most sites agree, and my x was taught in dental school, that a handfull of people die! every year from anesthesia... yeah, let that sink in. Granted, millions get anesthesia, but does it really matter how many live, if your life is in danger? Whatever you do, don't let them put you under. I refuse myself, I don't care if they need to saw a leg off. Even worse than death, for some non-oral operations what happens is the anesthesiologist messes up! The patient will be paralyzed, but they screw up the knock out part, So these people are fully awake and can feel everything during surgeries that can sometimes last an entire day! Sounds like something from Hostel, but true. Whatever you do, don't let them paralyze you. Make them use local anesthetics. Oh yeah, and there's nothing to worry about... Side: run like hell
