Syrian Refugee Crisis 2
"President Obama is sticking by his promise that the U.S. will take some 10,000 refugees in 2016, and even more in 2017 despite the Paris attack." ~Washington Post
Syrian refugees should be allowed in the U.S because we can support the refugees better than the LDCs. Jordan is accepting about 600,000 more refugees than America, and they do not have the resources to properly provide for the refugees.
You say we can support Syrians, if so how? The United States already has 610,042 US citizens homeless within the United States. How would we support the Syrians if we can not support US citizens?
The Syrians are mostly all already educated, and they acclimate to a new place well, as said in the video. So the refugees would be able to establish themselves and get jobs to provide for their families, therefor they could live well in this country. The United States has the jobs and the money to support their needs.
How will we supply the jobs you say Syrians will have if the US already has an unemployment rate of 5.5%. it does not sound like much , but think of the population if 318.9 million people in the US/ 5.5 . how many people are already unemployed?
In this situation, the Syrians are going through massive killings and you're willing to let them suffer even more? Our homeless are a problem, but the mass murders of these Syrians and the refugees are by far more important.
Since September 11th In America there have been 26 people killed by self-proclaimed jihad terrorists while there have been 48 killed by non-jihad terrorists, almost twice as many. To add to this, most of the jihad terrorists are homegrown and not refugees. While the possibility of an attack by refugees is present, the events in Paris is a perfect example, it is not the most urgent matter.
We have records of everyone that comes through as refugees, if they were to do something terrible,we have a means to find out who they are and stop them from doing more harm.
What about suicide bombers they kill them selves and the people around them, and we can't persecute a deceased terrorist now can we. How about them apples.
No we can not prosecute them but we can gather information from them as to how they are being trained, how they execute their attacks, how they get are associated with the groups they claim to represent, how ,if they are not home grown, they got into the country, and most importantly, who they are in contact with. With this information we can study and create a criminal profile. This profile then helps us stop terrorists before their attacks even leave the planning stages.
Is that a racial comment? By saying this, you are incorporating everyone of the Islamic fate as an ISIS accomplice. Your statement just shows that you are incompetent and uneducated about the current issue. Many children do not attend school because they are living in fear. You have no idea of what life is like in Syria! Massive killings and bombings are occurring on a daily basis. How would you feel if the entire world shut you out while your country was at war? Abandoned. Hopeless. Fearful.
But it is still a major issue that can not be ignored. Letting them in even a few hundred runs the risk of letting terrorists into this country. If something were to the only people to blame are the people who said let them in. That will be a "I told you so" moment after they blow something else up and kill even more innocent people die because we let some refugees in.
How can we place the burden on LDC countries like Lebanon, Jordan, and Turkey when the US is an MDC and we have the capabilities to allow the refugees the opportunity to go through the vetting process and eventually apply for naturalization?
Wrong thread. You responded to me asking for you to prove the correlation between terrorism and refugees.
I have no doubt that Obama could order the executive order you are referring to. I doubt the legitimacy of you calling for him to temporarily stop a visa process that has existed for decades and that, before San Bernadino, was not problematic. You haven't even said how he should amend the process.
Not all Muslims are incorporated with ISIS!!!!!!!!! Majority of the people that practice the Islamic fate say that ISIS does not represent there values
There are so many LDCs willing to open up their borders and offer what little resources they have to these Syrian refugees, yet MDCs are afraid of the possible assimilation of their own culture...?? They have the resources to help out these people, and 10,000 people is not much compared to all of the LDCs such as Jordan and Lebanon who have taken in hundreds of thousands and even millions of refugees from Syria.
There are over 4.3 million Syrian refugees looking for a safe place to live, and we have only taken in over 1,500 refugees. We have the resources and power to support them. Allowing at least 10,000 is a great idea.
That isn't a claim to be proven. If we don't have time, they don't come in: It is that simple. Every Syrian refugee that has been let in thus far has gone through the vetting process. Considering it takes 2+ years per person, that would explain why so few are here.
Again, nobody is simply being "let in" without being vetted.
LDCs such as Jordan who are taking in Syrian refugees do not have as much resources as MDCs, such as the United States. Although the risk of terrorists coming into the United States is present, the movement of refugees does not correlate with the movement of terrorists. We are capable of supporting people who need asylum from a corrupt dictatorship. If we were able to help the Jews during and after the Holocaust, how come we can't open up our resources to the Syrian refugees?
The Holocaust was a completely different scenario we did not have the chance of bringing in terrorist. Some Syrians are part of ISIS and yes we would save many people from death but we may bring in ISIS.
In All honesty We should allow the Refugees in. Yes there is a ISIS crisis and there is a chance that an ISIS militant can enter into the united states but if we take the time to actually think about whats really happening. You can realize that they are already here. We cant truthfully think we are going to prevent them from coming into the United States. Whats the harm in allowing refugees into our country when they are already about the lose what they had. Its either let them loose everything and come into our country for a fresh start with the chance of an ISIS militant which likely isnt going to happen because they use fear tactics, Besides coming with the refugees they are more than likely here. SO, Just let the refugees in and start living a new safer life instead of them just dying.
I understand where you are coming from when you say ISIS is already in the United States, but we are trying to eliminate the problem. How would we be able to control the ISIS situation if we open our borders to them?
We cant rightfully control anything. That was proven once we saw that ISIS is strong and rapidly growing Within our own country. They are recruiting within our own country! How else can we stop them? By eliminating free will??? They are recruiting through the internet (Which if you haven't noticed we are obsessed with!) How do expect to stop the In-State recruitment's that are occurring??
We already have a war on our hands and that war is home grown terrorism, we have record of the people that come into our country as refugees so if they are ISIS related we can find out who they are and solve the problem.
How will we find out if they are ISIS or no? They have technology same as us. They can find ways around the issue. I mean if we knew who the ISIS were already, then why do we have an ISIS problem in the US?
Another War? Technically we are already putting our heads into a ditch labeled WW3. so what "Other War" we already have a war and were not taking the chance to let them in because they are already here!
If we want to stop more terrorist groups arising or more impressionable young adults from being recruited into these violent extremist groups, than you have to understand that we need to show these refugees and other muslim countries that we are accepting of them, and that we are here to support them. This war on terror can only by stopped by drying up their recruiting. Even if the Paris terrorists turn out to have come from Syria β a Syrian passport was found at the scene of one bombing, though it may not have been real, and ISIS has claimed responsibility β we should still open our doors to more Syrians and other Muslims escaping extremism. I understand the reasons to consider closing our borders to refugees, one of them being the need to secure the safety of our citizens, but what about others? I would have to come out with an opinion and say that it is a bit cruel to watch thousands of people die due to our lack of mercy. Some US citizens are doing everything they can to help these refugees out but that is not enough. There are other countries suffering from the economic burden on their weak economies that the refugees have brought with them, but America is one of the many MDCs that has the economic stability to support such a "large" number of refugees. I'd have to say that I completely support opening our borders. As a closing argument, I would like to mention that we perform special background checks of each person to make sure they do not pose a threat to the safety of our nation. Each background check takes at least 18 months, and refugees must pass background checks, including several U.S. government agencies, and many applicants are rejected. We are very safe considering terrorist attacks.
There is absolutely no way we should allow them in. Plus if you look at the statistics most of the people in the United States believe that we should NOT RISK THE CHANCE.
If we let them in were putting ourselves at risk of putting terrorist attacks from ISIS who have already said if we let them in they're coming in with them.
We have plenty of space for Syrian refugees to be allowed into America. There may be a chance that terrorists could come in, but it could be just a few out of the 10,000 refugees that are coming in. We are an MDC and could afford to take in 10,000 refugees if it means helping them out.
If you think about it. How much space and economics do we really have? Think of the homeless who can not support themselves. Americans are selfish, it's a known fact, how would we convince Americans or the US government to become less selfish?
Sure, Americans are selfish, but not all of them are. What if it was you who was in their position? You would still want to go into the United States even if you did not have help. They still have a better chance here.
If we let Syrian Refugees into the United States then how are we going to provide for the Syrians if we can not even provide for the homeless in the United States? Even though we are a MDC, how is this country going to support Syrians if US citizens can not support themselves?
While that may be true you need to understand that the only reason we cant support our own homeless citizens is because the US is spoiled. We take for granted what we have and if we just learned to live as equals INSTEAD of fighting to be the richest or in High school term "Most Popular" then we would be able to support everyone. We only cant support ourselves because of our selfishness. So Learn to be less Selfish and see we have so much space to allow them in peacefully!!
You are saying for Americans to become less selfish, How will US citizens become less selfish, if they're already caught up in the economy and do not want to change? How would we be able to make Americans become less selfish?
Honestly. I say we give people the harsh reality that is life. We are living in a sucked up society that needs to learn compassion and maybe that will come from taking away their TOYS and giving them to the less compassionate once in a while.
Do you not think that allowing refugees into the country will not only make Americans more selfish with their money, but also start to fear going places knowing that there could be smuggled terrorists in the country?
The LDC's bordering Syria are taking in hundreds of thousands of refugees, and we can't even take in 10,000? We have so much more than they do, yet they are the ones taking all the slack. Is that right?
There are still people who donate to help out others who are in need, so if we get people to help them, then there won't be as much of a problem. Also, we have the ability to support Syrians, we just have to be less selfish.
We cannot risk letting any ISIS members into America. There have been reports that over 4000 ISIS members were smuggled into Europe with the Syrian refugees. For a more modest number, 8 were actually caught trying to enter Turkey in November.
It is a Example of Americas Selfishness! Think about everyone who has enough money to by the stupid things in life. Ex. Beyonce buying leggings for $100,000?!?!?! Whats the point in this?!?! Why cant she use that money to support our homeless?? or Maybe just maybe help some people over seas. We are very selfish people!!
I am against allowing Syrians in because with Syrians coming in terrorist are also coming in. By Syrians coming in, terrorist and ISIS are being brought also.
Refugees have to be checked before they can legally enter the United States, so a terrorist would have to go through the process too and would likely be caught.
Also, what makes you think that the terrorists would get caught? What if the terrorist has no visible ties to ISIS and is an upstanding citizen with great credentials? What then?
Obama, once again, is going to break his oath of office. If anything happens, he and the left will blame the right and the MSM will dutifully go along.
Just give them time; they're working overtime to try to tie it into the right just like they ridiculously tried to tie in the Gabriell Giffords shooting to the right and even Sarah Palin. Apparently, the overwhelming body of evidence shows it's Obam's lame-ass policies of letting anyone in as evidenced by the girl who immigrated on a fiance visa.
Obama, via executive action, could have suspended it temporarily until the immigration bureau got it's act together. He won't, just like he won't enforce the border.
Providing evidence: Now we're starting to get somewhere! I looked at the whole article as well as its citations, and though it claims Obama made changes, it never provides a citation for the changes they claim. Do you happen to have a citation to back up the claim that Obama made those changes? Because I tried doing research myself to find some and couldn't.
Your point was that naturalization is left to Congress. If asylum is granted, but not naturalization, then the executive office has not violated the separation of powers on naturalization. Therefore, Obama could grant asylum without Constitutional parameters.
To be honest, you are sounding a lot like Donald Trump, it isn't very appropriate to make bold statements like that regarding someone's opinion. Nobody here supports letting ISIS in, it is not that simple. We support the aid and acceptance of thousands of human beings who have suffered through atrocities that you very much likely have never experienced. Our government performs background checks for each individual trying to enter the United States. It is a very safe and secure process if you doubt our country's efforts to keep these extremists out. Because if they were here than they would have been here for a long time or have been recruited from outside the United States.
Letting Syrians in the states runs the risk of also letting members of isis in to this country. Now let me ask you something do you want another 9/11. They don't like us and we don't like them. So far they haven't done much to European countries but they will surely bring the big guns.
Not all of them do not like us, there are people that really do need our help. You need to put yourself in their shoes, if you have no intention of doing harm to a place and you were refused help because they were afraid of the minority of bad people how would you feel. They need help and we have the means to help them so why not help them.
America should not bring in Syrian refugees because if we do left them come in we will have the chance of letting in ISIS members which may bring a bigger chance of terrorist attacks. ISIS members also stated that they will be coming over with all of the refugees to America.
We already have some ISIS members in our country, and when we let in refugees we are only showing how supportive our country is of their struggle, and of other countries' economic burdens that come with accepting many refugees. I also previously stated that we do background checks and most people aren't even accepted. We are very safe from ISIS.
Why would ISIS come through the toughest vetting process this country has ever had, when they could come through far easier methods such as marriage or student visas?
So you're insinuating that ALL Syrian refugees are terrorists and supporters of ISIS? These people are being murdered, killed whether or not they supported a PEACEFUL protest for democracy, and you're willing to let them suffer even more because you're ignorant of the fact that NOT ALL Syrian refugees are ISIS supporters?
Allowing in refugees will bring in ISIS militants. I think we should focus on creating a safe zone for the refugees outside of the US. Therefore we wont have to deal with more terrorist
If i were president, I would never allow the Syrians to come in. I would want to save my country, not risk bringing syrians and isis's in. According to ABC News if we allow the 10000 syrians in we are setting our selves up.
There are so many great organizations such as UNICEF, FINCA, International Children's Fund. We can just donate money, or even our time to those organizations to help out. I think that that would help in many more ways than taking them into our country. Taking them in could just cause more problems
It was an auto-correct issue, so calm yourself down. You really shouldn't be calling someone out on grammar whilst employing improper grammar yourself, by the way.
