TV is better than Books

TV is better than books because, it is faster and some people can't read.

TELEVISION are more important because it can make people relax and entertain if he is tired. It also gives info and it is more specific than books. If we are using books we should read it twice, thrice in able to keep it in our mind, but in tv, even the report will appear once, people understand and enjoy.

People who are against tv keep on saying that it causes obesity.

I'm not going to go for a run and bring a book to read on the way. I think it is much easier to exercise watching tv then reading a book.

In gyms people do not have books infront of them, instead they have telvisions.

Studies have shown that telivision is even more stimulating than books.

whos in a hurry???

some people cant read

so then the govt wont concentrate on education because the tv will seem as if to teach everything. and those who can't read are usually poor so they won't even be able to afford a tv.

I think TV is better if you are watching an informational channel and it is better than books because you can switch to different informational channels an search documentaries on different subjects and when you are done learning and ready to relax you can switch to a funny show or what ever you want to watch.

there is something called the newspaper. this whole debate is mostly concentrating on people reading and not watching tv.

also it's educational

i believe you have text BOOKS at school. which again calls reading a good thing. on television you will only look for channels that satisfy your interests... you wouldn't watch the news but you would watch the cartoons and even repeat episodes. but in books, you can pick out any book and read it till you finish it. and it will always be the better option.

In my opinion,TV is better than books for several reasons. First of them, TV shows you a whole picture with all the details when books give you uncertainty,TV saves you a time for getting known something, when during the reading you need to read ,to replay the situation in your mind for understanding it clearly.Secondly, TV can be shared with 3 or 5 people the same time. Also compared to reading the books when your hands are busy, during watching a TV show you can do something else. Television has a certain quantity of programmes and a book has only one story. There is a big progress in technology when we have a lot of learning programmes on TV.Also the new option for TV is that you can choose the language of speaker, thus TV can help you to practise languages you learn. To sum up I want to say, that today's technology is working for us,it helps to save time, money and avoid unnessesary efforts.

you can also read whatever you want in books.

play on playstations.

that is one reason that so many people are turning obese. playing virtually and not physically.

with TV you can watch DVDs

with books you can form a mental image of whatever you read. you put in your on characters and imagine them just like you want them to be.

also in many movies directors cut shots that may be vital or good. this also is a disadvantage in tv. in a book you read whatever the author has written and don't skip many parts of it.

You can watch TV in one sitting where as a book takes all day to read. So no physical exercise will get done reading books. Exercise shows on TV make you move. SO TV IS WAY BETTER THEN BOOKS!!!!!!!

Not necessarily. You might be able to exercise with television and electronics, but think about where your brain is going. Did you know that television and other gaming systems are the main cause of ADD and ADHD? Other people, like a friend of mine with epilepsy, cannot do watch television or play games. He is a bodybuilder and writes books. He is well informed in Elizabethan literature and other works from the earlier centuries of time. So it boils down to how you spend your time, and how you live your life. You may get muscles while exercising during a TV episode of Spongebob, but you also probably lost ten points of your IQ. You can choose to be entertained and be healthy physically, or you can choose to be entertained, be healthy physically, AND make yourself smarter.

Ok, so TV is a bit unhealthy. Lets stop riding cars, we're not walking enough! It pollutes the environment anyways. Lets not have chairs, standing up is exercise. Also every single junk food has unhealthy chemicals. And just talk about all those skincare products, smearing deadly toxins over us everyday! If you think TV is bad, why not all these and many more?

I think T.V. is more helpful as the you can watch and listen to something being explained like if we read about budding or spore formation we have to create an image about that in mind, but when we watch the animation of budding then we could understand better. Some people can't even imagine so T.V. is helpful. As concerning the time limit or harm to our eyes, we should watch T.V. in a limit, because the excess of everything is harmful, even reading of books.

Surveys have found that a normal person can remember 10% of what he had read and 50% of what he had listened and watched.

TV is better than books because the educational programs on TV are much more convenient and easy to understand. It is also easy to use for people who cannot see or hear. Books are also likely to be not updated with latest information about a certain topic while information from TV can be much more accurate and useful.

TV is so much totally so much tottaly so much tottally better than books because

5 reasons:

1. TV is bright and exiting, Books are dull and boring

2. You can get paper cuts reading books

3. Books are made out paper and to make paper, you cut down trees. So, Books destroy the environment.

4. You can relax while watching TV. Unlike novels where you need to hold the book which is not as relaxing as watching TV

5. If you drive and read at the same time, you can cause accidents or crash.

i disagree. books are better as they usually contain good content. plus if you watch something while driving, you can also crash too. also, TV's con destroy your eyes if you look to close. does TV's give you education? Well, no. they do not because it always depends on what you are watching. also, all movies always has a story line, and guess, what. they usually don' t type it. they always has a physical version of it. all of this is on everyone's option. you can't for someone. you also cannot say " If you think Books are better than TV, Chuck Norris will kill you". this is technically cyber bullying.

See ya and thanks!

1. A picture is worth a thousand words. TV lets you see and hear a story, or information. Imagine just reading about the recent disasters in Japan, Alabama and Missouri vs. seeing them and seeing interviews with survivors. Much more powerful and immediate on TV.

2. Books take too much time. TV gives the info much faster.

3. More interactive than books. People have said that books are more interactive because why? Because you have to turn the pages? Technology now allows you to vote and interact with TV programs.

4. Information is more current, right up to the minute.

5. People will say you can take your time with a book, pick it up whenever you like, stop, and re-read it. But with recording devices, you can do the same with TV programs.

6. Your hands are free to do other things while watching TV, whereas you have to hold books. You can knit, quilt, do homework, play a game while watching TV. You can even exercise - there are devices that let your exercise power up the TV.

7. You only need ONE TV to get all kinds of information and entertainment for years and years. You'd need walls full of books to do that.

8. Your TV set can double as a game screen, movie screen, etc. Your books can only be paperweights.

9. Easy way to keep kids entertained, and really, there's nothing wrong with that if it's used in moderation. You could argue that it makes kids (and adults) too sedentary, but the same is true of books.

I am a total bookworm, too, but I've never thought of books as innately superior to TV. There's a lot of good to TV.

Unless the brain is used no human being can understand any medium. Be it TV or books. By watching the television people can create a make believe situation and think. "What if they would go left? They would be SAVED, wouldn't they?" Even viewing tv requires brains. And moreover we can watch television in the dark. But to read a book you need the lights on. Which also wastes electricity.

The overblown benefits of reading have long gone unchallenged as have the perils of TV viewing. The educational value of TV has been known even before the first lunar landing. TV has brought us up close to distant lands and cultures as well as important issues. We have listened to and watched political debates, interpreting gestures as well as content. Yes, even with fiction, TV leaves you to form conclusions based on tone, facial expressions, gestures, etc. Reading, on the other hand, "leaves little to the imagination", he said confidently. Consider the format for a novel. You can get a character's whole history delivered in writing before they even enter the room.

Unfair comparisons between books an movies have long gone uncontested. Comparing a poorly produced movie to a well written novel does little to promote reading over TV. Try comparing a poorly written novel to a blockbuster movie classic and you will get the opposite results. TV is a superior medium for delivering educational content faster and more efficiently - a multimedia format that stimulates multiple senses. Other forms of content favor TV as well. Ever read a comedic monologue and find it as entertaining as watching it in real time on TV? How about reading the play by play of a sporting event vs watching it happen?

Tv is better than books because it can ease the mind. Sure, it spoils the eye but books also spoil our eyesight because of how small the words are. Books also can stress the mind because of the font and size of the word, not to also mention that we don't understand the words and we have to imagine it. Television can improve our imagination but seeing what it is like. Books can also improve imagination but it isn't the way the writer is trying to show and it isn't the exact image the writer is telling us and we might be even more curious. The television tells us almost everything and shows how it is like unlike books. So I agree that TV is better than books

I love books and consider them very important and useful. Nothing I'm about to write is meant to discredit or devalue books.

But TV is more universally consumable. An entire family ranging from infant to retiree can watch the same TV same time and appreciate it in their own ways. Furthermore, people vote with their actions and the reality of modern life is more people spend more time at their TV (or other electronic media, too, like their computer or cell) than they do reading an old fashioned book. Furthermore, although the depth of information can be far better in a book, the information from TV can be assimilated faster and in more ways.

Of course books are better than TV. It destroys society. I would like to mention that TV does not have conscience, moral principles and shame. Besides, it promotes violence, debauchery and cynicism. In addition, today television takes the role of up bringer for our children. However, almost all the cartoons promote violence and as the result children grow up angry and without any sense what is good and what is bad, what is right and what is wrong. Today teenagers do not have the desire to develop their knowledge. They just sit down near the TV and watch rubbish and as usual they do not have any topics to discuss.

Nowadays television has bad influence not only on children but also on adults. I would like to consider this issue as an example the sitcom "Married...with children" because my family watches it and I decided to find out the meaning of this TV series. Soon i realized that it is the propaganda of ignorance, disrespect women to men and to seniors. An adult can understand that it is exaggerated, mocking look at our reality, but the child absorbs information in its pure form.

However, when you read a book you develop your imagination, vocabulary and train memory. Besides, very often a person can find answers to many questions of concern to human and sometimes solutions to any problems connecting with not only with romantic relationships but with global problems such as finding meaning in life and choosing the right path. In the heroes of the books we often can find similar traits of character, outlook and attitude towards life. There is is no wonder that a lot of people have their favorite literary characters and when people read about them in particular book, they cognize themselves and reveal the hidden potential of own character.

In addition, reading the works of good writers makes a person think as smoothly as in the book. Swear words disappear from the lexicon and language become more intelligent. Besides, it becomes easier to write a letter, essay, composition and poem.

To my mind people should read books as more as it possible in order to stop degradation!

Book are better than TV because when you read you became smarter and your writing skills are more correct day by day, you will not have a mistakes because reading is very helpful for human beings , if you read books you improve your knowledge and books can avoid you from degradation of your brain. There are many arguments why books are better ,I can say best of all even of the Internet. If you are interested in book of your choice , you can read it from the morning till the midnight and anyone will not desterb you but when you watching TV ? You can waste your time just for watching advertisements is it good for you ? I don't think so.There are no advertisements in books.Books are portable and can be carried around. TV's are less portable. If you want to read , you can read everywhere you want , in bus, on the station, in taxy everywhere you want, but what about TV is it suitable? It's not. I prefer books, because we can read while travelling.Books are great, they are good for everything. I think if person doesn't love read the books he doen't tried it because it's unforgattable feeling to finish book you loved and start it again..... Books are better anyway ! ;)

Why can't books be violent? Also violence is a part of entertainment, most people would have enough common sense not to start a mass murder after some bloddy tv show. Also TV isn't uneduacational. We just choose to not watch the helpful parts of it, and so goes the same with books. When you read a book, you don't actually learn anything. It's not like anyone really rereads, checks for comprehension, looks at every single misunderstood word in the dictionary, takes notes about how the author writes, you get it. All we do (most of us atleast) when we read a book is just sit back and enjoy the story. And if you say you read non fiction? So do I, and also nonfiction on a TV.

Books are better than TV because books have each and every detail briefly . we get to read books like story books , fairy tales, ghost stories etc these books help us in bringing imaginary power in us . In TV only some points are explained and sometimes we cant remember it easily but in books if we forget anything we can now and then read it .At last I only want to tell that books are much and much better than TV .

I wouldn't call them guests inasmuch as they were the enemy, who would censor literature (and consequently the expression and trade of ideas). But I also enjoyed it. Thoroughly. My favorite short story is the one in the Martian insane asylum, where everyone ends up dying and/or committing suicide. I can't recall the name of the particular story.

I think books are better as TV can cause obesity as many people just sit infront of it, it has been proven to cause violence and it reduces learning. Also, books increase someones imagination and creativity as they have to imagine things in the book for themselves.

I am not completely against TV but I do believe that TV is very bad in large amounts and books are very good for people

Side: Books

A book can make you cry, laugh, create, and even love. A book can give a guide line for your imagination to fly on.

Bed, the best place for books, you can take a book anywhere that a tv can't go and more. A book can go to the cafe, the restaurant, it can even go onto a plane. Books are portable and can go anywhere. TV cannot.

Books can increase IQ or even just help you learn a few words. Reading a book can immediately increase your vocabulary and speaking ability, and if there is a new word that you do not know, you can go to the dictionary and look it up; also surprisingly a BOOK.

IMAGINE, a land where anything you wanted was created in a heartbeat. Now you are using your imagination, something that a book will vastly increase if you want it too. A TV will make you think what it wants you to. A book will give a few words and you can do the rest.

After a few good arguments I regret to inform you TVers that you have been SKOOLED

Sincerely Fancy Potato

books are better than TV because most of the TV kids watch add influences to them which are not good and most parents don't care what there children watch and I thank book are better because you learn more from books.

1. Books don't ruin your eyes like TV. does.

2. Books allow your brain to imagine rather than doing it for you.

3. Reading books a lot can help you with spelling.

4. Reading books a lot can help you write better.

5. Reading books teaches you to read. Watching TV. doesn't

T.V is much better than books. When you watch T.V you don't get the full effect of what's happening. When you read a book you much more and descriptive words. It can you to other places and worlds. When all T.V. does is rot your brain. Watching T.V. has also been linked to health problems.

1) If you fall asleep while reading you don’t miss anything.

2) It’s quiet.

3) You can do it ANYWHERE including places with no cell service, electricity, wifi, or satellite transmission.

4) It’s private, just you and the author linking minds and ideas.

5) It’s free with a library card, and sometimes even without!

6) There are no commercials.

7) Your mother will not mind if you do.

8) Books are easy to share.

9) TV and movies have been around for less than 100 years. Books have been written for thousands and thousands of years. Everything you need to know is in them.

10) They are so much fun to pick out!

I think one reason is that TV is filled with crap. So much that's on TV at any given moment is really bad.

Because television and movies are heavily edited and condensed for time they can't give the same depth of story. A book may take 30 hours to read but it has to fit into 90 minutes for a movie. There are a lot of shortcuts needed to trim that amount of time away from a story.

Television is all about packaging a bunch of cool little bits together quickly. In restaurant terms TV is fast food and books are top of the line restaurant meals.

I strongly think that books are better than television because you can read your book any time.

you can get the book any time you want.

I think books offer much more intellectually than TV. Studies have shown that TV can lower brain function to near sleep like levels due to the lack of brain processing power required to watch. Books on the other hand improve language, writing, and vocabulary skills and depending on what topic of novels/books you enjoy, they can also provide necessary educational information that one might not discover watching "The Big Bang Theory".

If you'd like another example of why a book is much better for you than a TV Show, look at the responses on both sides and tell me which side is better articulated.

Books. Books. Books. They get into more detail, you can use your imagination and they weave the story around you much better then some half-assed, edited to hell, movie or TV show.

Books are easily accessible and contain information from education to entertainment for all ages young and old. You can take books anywhere with you and they can be placed in your bag or an extra carry bag.

Unlike TV, you can buy books for extremely cheap prices, ranging from large novels priced at around $30 and short children books priced at $5. Most books can even be borrowed at local libraries for free. There are also text books which include the hard copy of the digital work. The maximum cost for these books are $50, which, in the long run, is cheap. Compared to paying all those electricity bills for watching TV, charging your portable devices etc and buying movies from $5 to about $30.

Books have a better use than TV’s. TV causes obesity, is bad for your eyesight and kills brain cells. We all know you can watch NBA Live, Baseball and The super bowl live on TV, but why not just buy tickets? They’re cheaper than TVs, and its way more enjoyable, you may as well just watch it on your Android or IOS. And those stupid marriage shows, No one cares, it’s not like anyone cares about strangers getting married. Books help you with more knowledge, and also educate you. And heaps of books are suited for each age, level and spelling level.
