Teleportation Issue: Read Description!

DEBATE: Teleportation involves decomposing one individual and recreating him/her in another location. Theoretically, you die and recompose with the same appearance, genetic code, memories, etc. So, when one teleports, dies, and is recreated, what happens to his/her soul (assuming the person is a Christian). Does it transition to the "new" you. If not, where does it go. Plus, is this new you actually you or can it be considered an imposter... Give me your thoughts!!! And please only speak from the Christian point of view. Do not bring other religions into this debate.

A soul was first used to explain the difference between a living body and a dead body, and also the state of consciousness and emotion. So back then, when a person had died, they presumed that the reason they were motionless was because the soul had left the body. But nowadays, we know that a soul is not what keeps us alive, it is our functioning organs, especially our brains.

Souls don't have any thing to do with our emotions as well; it is just chemicals in our brain that get released from certain glands. If we were to walk through a teleportation device, and came out alive, complete with consciousness, memory and emotion, what use would the concept of a soul be when it has all been explained by science in the brain?

Besides, the concept of a literal soul is nonsense. It would seem purely childish to think that a soul would be lost, and left behind like a retard when a person is teleported.

The idea of teleportation is a hard concept to grasp, but if you think of it like that it's not dying, it's just taking pieces apart then moving them before putting them back together. That doesn't justify that it's killing anyone.

I personally don't believe in souls, but if I did, I don't see why it wouldn't come back with the rest of the body.

If you are a Christian and you were teleported somewhere and you died during the disintegration process, then, when they re-integrate you, you would be a born again Christian. What was so hard about this that we had to dedicate a debate to it ;)

You have to be Christian to believe in the soul?

Sorry...Messed that up... It applies to any other soul-based religion.

Lol what if you have no religion but still believe in the soul?

If the teleportation is breaking down your molecules for whatever reason, to look at them or something in order to recreate them using other molecules, then yes, you would be dead and some doppelganger who thinks he/she is you would be running around. You would be dead though.

If it is moving the molecules then rebuilding them using the same molecules, than you would have been dead, but then alive upon the molecules coming back together.

In either case there is no soul. If there were a soul there would be no reason to believe it would not do whatever souls do after you die in the first instance, and in the second there would be no reason to believe the soul would not be rebuilt with the rest of you.

Again though, there is no soul, only a brain that is capable of self-awareness and doesn't want to die.

I think it would be awesome to teleport. If I die then a new me (ME!) comes back to life (which is also awesome), so what is the problem?
