The Defunding of Planned Parenthood

The president-elect has made this part of his first 100 days in office. Planned Parenthood is a privately run business that does not need tax payer money to fund the murder of human beings. 500 million that is being used of tax payer money can now be used to help grow small business and put people back to work and not fund the murder of innocent human life that does not have a voice in whether they live or die. 50 plus million lives have been snuffed out by Planned Parenthood but one black criminal is killed by police and the Left loses their mind. Planned Parenthood is a money laundering scheme for the Left if it wasn't then Leftist would not fund such murder and without question oppose such practice.

What will the Leftist do and how will they react when the murder mill of Planned Parenthood is defunded and those tax payer dollars are lost ?

Planned Parenthood needs tax money to pay for the health services it provides women that aren't abortions. Women go to planned parenthood for more than just abortions.

Planned Parenthood has a 1.3 billion annual revenue. Now why would Planned Parenthood need 500 million of taxpayer dollars.

What free services do any of those companies provide? Planned Parenthood provides free cancer screenings, and other needed medical exams for women. Why do you hate women? Or do you just hate poor women?

4 points

So to take away the 3% of Planned Parenthood that goes towards abortions, you want to also take away cancer screenings, sex education and sexuality information, STD testing, treatment, contraception, health care, breast exams, prenatal services, adoption referrals to other agencies, UTI treatments and other procedures for both men and women who can't afford other options?

Let me guess, you don't want abortions but you also don't want to pay parent's' who can't afford to properly care for the child you are making them have, by also taking away free testing and contraception and prenatal care, right?

Planned Parenthood does not do cancer screening. I quote Cecil Richards here. Planned Parenthood President Cecile Richards’s repeated claim at a Sept. 29 congressional hearing that the organization does not, in fact, offer mammograms or have mammogram machines in its clinics.

There is more than breast cancer. They do breast screenings and do Pap tests which test for cervical cancer, which wouldn't need a mammogram machine.

Planned Parenthood is a privately run business that does not need tax payer money to fund the murder of human beings.

Will you also support the removal of the multi-trillion dollar budget of the US army...? just asking since those are tax payer money funding the murder of human beings.

The time has come to defund the murder mill using taxpayer dollars

According to FactCheck.org only 3% of PP's total services were abortions making only 10% of their clients people who received an abortion. Planned Parenthood also cannot use tax dollars to fund abortions by law. So no tax money wasted on abortions

Planned Parenthood: We Aborted 327,653 in FY2014

By Penny Starr | December 31, 2014 | 12:40 PM EST

(CNSNews.com) – Planned Parenthood clinics did 327,653 abortions in its fiscal year 2014 (which ran from July 1, 2013 to June 30, 2014), according to Planned Parenthood Federation of America’s newly released annual report.

That works out to an average of 37 abortions per hour or nearly 1 every 90 seconds.

(AP Photo)

Planned Parenthood also received $528.4 million from government grants and reimbursements, which equaled 41 percent of its revenue.

The federal government is prohibited from paying directly for abortions through Title X family planning grants and reimbursements, however, federal funds do pay for Planned Parenthood operations, including the clinics where abortions are performed.

The 327,653 abortions Planned Parenthood reports that it did in its organizational fiscal 2014 exceeds by 487 the number of abortions it did the previous year.

The report also reveals that Planned Parenthood actually provided fewer contraceptives -- 3,577,348 patients in fiscal 2014 compared to 3,724,558 in fiscal 2013.

According the latest 990 form filed with the IRS for 2013, Planned Parenthood President Cecile Richards’ base compensation was $396,138. Including retirement funds and other benefits, Richards’ total compensation was $492,200.

A statement from one young woman, cited only as “Shireen” in the report but accompanied by a photo, says: “Birth control has changed my life. It has allowed me to attend college, travel and be a working woman. I get my birth control at Planned Parenthood because it is accessible and affordable, and because Planned Parenthood advocates for women like me – a young woman of color – every day.”

1.3 billion annual revenue why would Planned Parenthood need any taxpayer dollars. You care to answer that.

Basically what Cartman said. The Republican position on this should become much more nuanced if it's going to remain a staple of the party's platform.

Planned Parenthood needs taxpayer dollars with a 1.3 billion annual revenue. Explain the position you hold on this situation.

I believe that he will quickly move to keep the promises that he made to us during the campaign.

Trump will ask the House and Senate leadership to send him legislation defunding Planned Parenthood. Once this is signed, the abortion giant, which has killed over 7,000,000 babies since Roe v. Wade and which spent $38 million in a vain effort to elect Hillary Clinton, will no longer be on the receiving end of federal funding. Hundreds of millions of taxpayer dollars will no longer flow into Planned Parenthood’s coffers. The loss of roughly 40% of its annual revenue will surely slow down the killing.

Trump will also back the passage of legislation banning abortions after 20 weeks. He has pledged to sign the Pain-Capable Unborn Child Protection Act, which will save tens of thousands of lives each year.

Trump has also pledged to “repeal and replace” Obamacare. With its demise will go hundreds of burdensome regulations, including those that brought the Little Sisters of the Poor and other plaintiffs to the federal courts to seek relief from its abortion mandates.

With Trump’s support, I also expect the Mexico City policy, first passed by President Reagan in 1984, to be written into permanent law. This will require non-governmental organizations (NGOs) that receive federal funding to certify that they will not perform, promote, or lobby for the legalization of abortion in other countries.

We will also, again with Trump’s support, be able to permanently defund the UN Population Fund. The UN’s population control arm has been a cheerleader of China’s program of forced abortions and sterilizations from the beginning. We should have no part of it.

I hate most abortions, but I am against defunding Planneddd Parenthood because abortion is not their only service. They provide healthcare and advocacy. They help women make their own healthcare choice.

You are a lost soul. The stunningly high black abortion rate.Abortions of black children make up almost 40 percent of total U.S. abortions each year, despite black Americans comprising only 12 percent of the population.

Again, abortion is not their only service. Planned Parenthood provides contraception, STI treatment and prevention, cancer screenings, sex ed, advocacy, and so on.

You hate "most" abortions? So that means you hate 160,677 of the abortions enabled by taxpayer funds through Planned Parenthood, and 160,676 babies killed was okay, as long as they claim to provide other services?

I do support abortion for medical problems, but otherwise, no.

Planned Parenthood is just a tool for women who can't keep their legs crossed and their hot dog men who use them like whores. Planned Parenthood is the back up of perverts to kill the baby if it interferes with their fun.....and get help with those pesky STD's which get passed around by perverts. It should receive no taxpayer funds.

And the evil people running the business and doing the work get paid for it.....sick. America has a lot of innocent blood on it's hands. No taxpayer funds should support abortion in any way. You have to be perverted to support Planned Parenthood.....twisted.

1 point

My stance on this topic is this:

-Planned Parenthood should be defunded because a government subsidized private enterprise is against free market principles

-I also am against abortion, as I feel not only is it morally wrong, but it is economically detrimental

-However, we still need to address the underlying issue of unwanted pregnancies which lead to those wanting abortion. Instead of preaching abstinence, we should extensively educate people on safe sex and contraceptives, which has proven to work in other countries. That should be our priority with the money we save, and hopefully we'll have some left over to inject into our economy too

Cartman(18192) Disputed

Isn't the alternate to government subsidized private enterprise the governing providing those services directly. Wouldn't it be more efficient for a private company to provide the services and have the government pay what it costs?

suhhhhan(19) Disputed
1 point

No, I actually feel that the government subsidizing Planned Parenthood is detrimental to all involved. Since government supports and funds Planned Parenthood, the company has a distinct competitive advantage over other potential health providers like it, and for some people Planned Parenthood may be their only choice (a.k.a monopoly). Defunding Planned Parenthood will not affect the viability of the institution, as they have plenty of outside income, but it will create a balanced market for the goods and services PP provides, and as more and more companies get in to this field, competition will drive prices down and give consumers more options.

Plus, the government can now take that 500 million dollars and use it to improve the quality of sex ed, which will greatly help with our unwanted pregnancy problem, and still have money left over.

1 point

I don't doubt at all that now that Republicans control all of Washington and have a (allegedly) pro-life President that all federal funding of Planned Parenthood will eventually be stopped.

But I also don't doubt a severe backlash from both women and minorities in the years to follow.

Tread carefully now, because the public outrage over Obamacare being pushed through over objections of a large share of this nation is but a minor ding compared to the scandal of putting women's health and rights back 50 years.

EXCUSE YOU PLANNED PARENTHOOD DOESN'T JUST PROVIDE SERVICE FOR ABORTIONS!

It's honestly hilarious that people think that The Donald will be capable of doing anything that he said he would. The majority of the things he wants to accomplish or abolish have to be budgeted, something which he has no control over.
