The Flaw of a Republic

it always makes me laugh when somebody living comfortably in a democracy who has the right and freedom to criticize it that many others would die for does just that. talks about how flawed it is. then I like to picture that person living in some totalitarian tyranny State, like China or Iran or North Korea, being hauled out of bed in the middle of the night to prison, and while he is being dragged into the cold black truck while his family cries after him, he thinks, "hmm...maybe that democracy wasn't so bad after all." enjoy what we have. or go somewhere where they don't have it. good men died for your freedom of speech and your voting rights. It's NOT the fault of democracy, it's the fact that we are a "republic"! Republics take the control away from the voters and put it into the hands of "delegates" that can be (and are), BOUGHT! Put them in a position of power and the ones with the money (or the ability to generate FEAR) will rapidly get control of them! When this nation was founded it was impossible to have a true democracy. It would take months to gather all the peoples votes. They did the next best thing. Today, we have the technology to vote instantly! Republics, like the "Peoples Republics of N. Korea, China, Cuba, Iraq, Iran, etc., are controlled by those with money or power, and since "Citizens United" handed the country over to a handful of billionaires, we are well on our way to failure of ANOTHER "republic"! A real democracy would put the power BACK into the hands of the voters, rendering lobbyists impotent! The flaw is in the republic, as seen around the world, NOT in democracy! 1
