The Greenhouse Effect

I've noticed that the argument for the dangers of CO2 sound convincing, but if you actually read and listen to what the words are, they don't really mean anything.

For example,

Do we all breathe? Yes.

Do we all die? Yes.

This just proves that breathing causes death. I can then go on about how there are tiny amounts of chlorine in the air and with every breath you take a tiny little bit gets trapped in your lungs and it builds up until you die, so we must breath less.

Yes, it does exist.

The Greenhouse effect is the process by which gases in the atmosphere trap heat generated by the sun as it is bounced back from the planetary surface. This process is real because greenhouses use this effect as a way to grow plants and heat the inside of a structure.

Carbon dioxide and other gases can trap heat from the sun, which will heat up the planet. Therefore the greenhouse effect is true. Another question is whether we as humans cause the greenhouse effect as a consequence of industrial development. The answer is yes, because every molecule of greenhouse gases we emit is going to heat up the atmosphere.

The controversy behind this fact is whether or not we cause enough of a difference in the amount of greenhouse gases so that we are the cause of global warming. Scientists cannot even answer this question yet.

Well that's just theory, isn't it. They earth is meant to be heating up anyway, and you do know that when the earth heats up, the oceans begin releasing the CO2 dissolved in them.

Anyone can make up the greenhouse effect, like I did with the chlorine-lung effect, so that's not really enough to support the idea that the earth is heating up because of CO2.

Why is it that several thousand years ago, there was more CO2 in the atmosphere than there is now, and yet the earth continued to cool? The only difference with having more CO2 in the air was a tremendous increase in plant growth.
