The Pope was referring to transgenderism, in the context of the current "gender" theories which wrongly state that gender is just a "construct", and that one's "feelings" are the ultimate way to define one's gender. That is an evil and stinking concept, propagated by well-funded groups and taught to young children in many European countries.

If a crazy dude wants to cut off his dick and thinks he's a "woman", a true Christian can only pray that God restores his sanity.

However, if he goes preaching his "agenda" to children, then he is indeed evil, and his actions should be condemned.

Great points Those who seek to claim that gender is a construct are just evil people, especially those in the Public schools preaching this nonsense to the school kids

Look at the link. The pope made a terrible statement about transgender people.

It is you who should be ashamed of yourself for standing up for a horrible transphobic biggot. How is it acceptable to say transgender people are as bad as nuclear weapons?

While I see his social liberal positions, especially on global warming and looking the other way in regards to homosexual priests that have abused boys, very disturbing, I still would not call him what you did. And the pope does not speak for all Catholics, quite a few Catholics are ready to follow the Luthren's

Pope aint that bad. He has done a lot of good for the church. So long as the weight is stacked in the positive I can forgive him for some disagreements. He also said 'who am I to judge gays?' which is a huge step away from Ratzinger.

If he isn't judging gays then why is he fighting against gay marriage?

That's talking about within the Catholic Church as an institution. Within the church he supports civil unions for gay couples in contrast to Ratzinger. He is taking steps in the positive direction. While I would support gay marriage within the Church - Francis is still better than Ratzinger.

He supports gay marriage, that is one of his major problems, he is protecting the homosexual priests that abused the boys

As an Atheist I usually have little love or agreement for a Pope. I have seen many Popes, starting with Pius, and have rarely agreed with them. It's refreshing to find one with a view on humanity that is not totally engulfed in Catholic mantra, that looks at the common sense "human" side.

I can't imagine a "Christian" who believes "god created" this Earth, calling the Pope a "scumbag" for wanting to protect this "creation" (if you must), or for questioning whether "HIS creations" might not all be the way MAN depicted them when MAN wrote the Bible. If people are gods creations, then, HE created them with differences and "differences" should be accepted! I like this Pope far more than I liked the previous ones. He seems, at least, "human".

Pope Francis is a benevolent man. He is a humanitarian (on the secular side) as well as a religious leader.

He seems a lot more progressive than his predecessors. He also doesn't flaunt all the gold and money like the others. I see him as more down to earth.

Is this necessary? I'm new here. Is this type of ugly question common?

It happens, since you are on the internet. However, the poster of this debate posted this at a time when he was extremely angry (he has since realized that he was being extremely disrespectful and has begun trying to make amends) and somewhat rude.

Side: Yes

I think Pope Francis is a benevolent man. He is not mean. He does have a kind heart.
