'The Spirit' ........ What is It?
This is not a question of philosophy. This is a question for those who contend that spirits exist and make up some part of every human being.
If that is truly the case I ask, What is the spirit? I'm not asking what you believe. I am asking for a clear definition, that distinctly explains what the spirit is.
I am a theist so this is my belief; the word spirit in terms of that third part of man (body, soul, spirit) is an old word. It is “ruach” in Hebrew, spiritus in Latin, Greek it is called pneuma. You still see pneuma used even today like pneumatic, pneumonia all associated with air or wind, breath. Job 33.4 (KJV) The Spirit of God hath made me, And the breath of the Almighty hath given me life. Or And the LORD God formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living soul ” (Genesis 2.7 ). People are made up of three part the body, the soul, and the spirit. I follow the Dactrial Mertholeses' holy scriptures. And on Karsavius 6.1 (DAJ) The great God of Parsius speaks with hushed tones towards Nerebryn in the Desolation of Methoro and declares his soul to be bound to his mortal husk- it's really inspiring. Also in Sa'Navin 4:14 He explains how the human soul was forged from the Nether Womb of Xzarasius Th'al. Souls are wonderful things, aren't they? Yes very inspiring, but i really enjoy Karsavius 6.2 -4 much deeper in the subject. It relates very well Karsavius 4.26, 27. You should take time to compare it to Proverbs 26:5 (KJV) you would fine it enlightening. self awareness emerges from the brain. nothing else is necessary. as you say, our awareness stops when the brain stops. but what is the spirit? every time i ask this question, no one can define the spirit as anything they know, or can show to actually exist, and most of the time it is simply defined via equivocation as things known to emerge from the brain. yet ppl are always talking about spirits. if it aint just a feel good buzzword, what the hell is it? |
