For One Thing Both Of These Sagas Are Great. But The Twilight Saga For Me Has The Edge.

The Twilight Saga Is More Real Becuase It Deals With How People Have Different Emotions And How They Cope With These. Harry Potter Is Just A Made Up World That JK Rowling Created. At Least Stephanie Meyer Created A World That is Real And Both Boys And Girls Relate To It.

The Twilight Saga Has Got Great Actors And Actresses In It So How Can You Compare The Actors In Harry Potter To The Twilight Saga When Both These Films Are Completely Diffferent.

Incredible, you have made the least sense in this debate than I've seen in any other.

Let me be specific, you firstly said...

"The Twilight Saga Is More Real Becuase It Deals With How People Have Different Emotions And How They Cope With These"

...which is actually fairly relevant in Harry Potter as well. While it isn't the most stressed part of the series, it is present. Perhaps you should really watch some of the later movies in the series and see for yourself.

Okay, you then said...

"Harry Potter Is Just A Made Up World That JK Rowling Created."

Which is obvious, but you then made yourself sound retarded by saying...

"At Least Stephanie Meyer Created A World That is Real And Both Boys And Girls Relate To It."

So, you're either retarded or you're wrong. To me it doesn't really make a difference, because when you can't tell that vampires and werewolves aren't real.. there is a problem.

"The Twilight Saga Has Got Great Actors And Actresses In It So How Can You Compare The Actors In Harry Potter To The Twilight Saga When Both These Films Are Completely Diffferent."

The point of making a comparison is to show how each has been done and how effective/ineffective they were. If this isn't obvious, then you shouldn't make a call in these kinds of debates.

look people have different opinions

i know harry potter has romance in it and it has people coping with different feelings what i meant was that more people espcially teen girls can relate more to the twilight saga than harry potter.

every girl can relate to bella swan becuase they have neither been in the same situation as her.

Boys and girls cannot relate to vampires and their powers. HP has emotion too. You mean twilight has more sex?? Yeah ur def right about that. And the actors are not great. Their looks are but acting wise, they should be burned in hell for tarnishing the art of acting. The only thing I will agree with you is that both worlds are different except the sane, normal, smarter people will choose the right path. They do not need to be told...

Yes they both rock, but the main things is what you're looking for. If your looking for romance, emotion, etc, that type then ya the Twilight Saga books are great. On the other hand,if you want to enter a world of fantisy, magic, action, etc, then The Harry Potter Series kills anything. The movies of these two are good but not nearly as fantastic as their books. :)

"The Twilight Saga Is More Real Becuase It Deals With How People Have Different Emotions And How They Cope With These."

-But...just...no. Bella deals with "lust" as if it is love. You do not LOVE anyone you've known for a matter of weeks. When Edward leaves her for her OWN GOOD (sign of abuse, by the way), she completely falls apart. She's terribly depressed. While this is a real thing - depression - it's unrealistic that she'd act this way. Surely there is a girl out there who really has acting this way over a breakup, it's probably happened more than it should. However, the fact that this is portrayed as though it's totally okay and understandable for this to be happening - the fact that the reader is convinced that this proves she truly loves Edward - causes the entire thing to be terribly unrealistic. Because those things you've been convinced of AREN'T reality. It's VERY, VERY bad for her to be acting this way - she's been EMOTIONALLY ABUSED. She's depressed. Somewhat delusional. And she ISN'T in love.

Harry Potter deals with every emotion - love, hate, anger, sadness, fear, friendship, jealousy - EVERYTHING. And it isn't just in simple terms, either. It was Lily's LOVE for Harry that kept Voldemort from killing him as a child. HER LOVE. Even the mention of this implies that LOVE IS POWERFUL. Hatred factors in differently throughout, however a very notable way is how Voldemort treats the muggleborns in Deathly Hollows. It represents the Holocaust. (I'm not even going to MENTION that Harry Potter brings in allusions to historical events, etc. etc, unlike Twilight... This is just one way to prove JKR's talent over Meyer's) This hatred stems from Voldemorts own past. It isn't just random. It isn't just caused by one event, which IS the case for Victoria in Twilight. Harry is ANGRY through out. He's angry becuase his parents have been killed, and he's been forced to spend much of his life with the Dursley's. He's angry (PoA) because he thinks his father's best friend betrayed him. He's angry (OOTP) because no one will believe that Voldemort has returned. And then Sirius dies. And there's so much more than that. Sadness? Sirius dies. Dumbledore dies. Two people Harry was extremely close to die. He never knew his parents. Ron's brother dies. He sees many others die. And fear? Harry - and everyone has much to fear! I mean, Harry kind of has the fate of the world in his hands. That's scary - for anyone. Not to mention - his friends - they're afraid. They're just brave enough to face everything they face because they know they can't let Harry face it alone. They know he can't face it alone, because he's afraid too. The same ties in to friendship (which by the way, Bella HAS NO FRIENDS. SHE ABANDONS THEM ALL FOR HER STUPID ABUSIVE BOYFRIEND.) Ron and Hermione stick with Harry even when he's terribly difficult. Even when it's dangerous. And jealousy? Ron is jealous of Harry - because he's the "chosen one" and Ron is just... Ron. Ron is jealous when Hermione goes to the Yule Ball with Victor Krum. Hermione is jealous when Ron has a girlfriend in Half Blood Prince. Harry is jealous when Ginny has a boyfriend. While it seems kind of trivial - it IS real life. Much more realistic than the overly dramatic romances in Twilight? YES.

So basically the point here is that while Twilight DOES hit on some emotions, Harry Potter hits on all of them - and does it WELL.

"Harry Potter Is Just A Made Up World That JK Rowling Created. At Least Stephanie Meyer Created A World That is Real And Both Boys And Girls Relate To It."

-Okay. See, yes, she did create a "made up world". But that's partially what she's praised for. She created her own magical world, while still keeping the mythology of such things together. She didn't have to change what a werewolf was like for her story to work. She kept in the mythology of centauts and wizards and witches... Meyer's "world" is dull and boring because aside from the vampires and werewolves, it's our world. It's just a boring high school, with an extroadinarily boring main character. There's NOTHING special about the world she created - and to make it even the slightest bit "special" she had to break and twist all the rules of fantasy - vampires die in sunlight, drink blood, DON'T SPARKLE, and are TERRIBLY dangerous. Werewolves transform UNDER THE FULL MOON, and lose their minds during this change. She changes everything. Making something "new" or "recreating it" or whatever you want to call what she did DOES NOT MAKE IT BETTER. JKR managed to be very origional WITHOUT breaking all those rules. Oh, and by the way - TWILIGHT IS A FREAKING FICTIONAL WORLD AS WELL, DEAR.

And - I can't related to Twilight at all. I'm nothing like a single character. I've been the new girl. It's not so bad. I mean, sure, it is for some - but that isn't even the central issue. You can relate to characters in Harry Potter...OVER ALL. For example: Who has ever felt like...maybe you're the smart girl, who studies hard and knows what she wants out of life. Maybe you aren't good at sports. And maybe you aren't the most beautiful girl around. And maybe you're really...self conscious? Or maybe you've got that guy friend...that drives you crazy, he annoys you, he argues with you...but yet...you're in love with him still - and there's nothing you can do about it because he's got a girlfrined? You can relate to Hermione. It's more than just being able to relate to a characters MAIN situation or a minor, brief one along the way - it's more than that. It's WHO THEY ARE, that you can relate to. Twilight might allow a few to relate to a situation here or there. Harry Potter - you can relate to the CHARACTERS.

"The Twilight Saga Has Got Great Actors And Actresses In It So How Can You Compare The Actors In Harry Potter To The Twilight Saga When Both These Films Are Completely Diffferent"

-First - THE MOVIES ARE HORRIBLE. They weren't even nominated for anything worth winning. Just stupid fan voted awards at shows that the REAL awards laugh at. Twilight will never be nominated for anything important. EVER. Harry Potter on the other hand - Academy Award noms? YES.

Twilight has HORRIBLE acting. Nothing against the actors - but they were terrible in this. OH WAIT. That's because THEY'RE PLAYING HORRIBLE CHARACTERS. DUH.

Harry Potter has twice the actors of Twilight. Should I even have to mention Helena Bonham Carter (who is FREAKING AMAZING as Bellatrix), or Ralph Fienes? Or Gary Oldman? Or...MANY other people? COME ON.

And don't dis the Harry Potter VS (DESTROYS) Twilight argument. While they are different - they're compared because of the fandoms. Twilight fans started it, we're just retaliating, and defending what we know is true. Not to mention WHY ARE YOU SAYING WE SHOULDN'T COMPARE THEM...WHEN YOU JUST COMPARED THEM?

Senseless hypocrisy!

Harry Potter has better graphics.

Twilight has no costumes (Jacob) or very simple costumes (casual clothing).

And Kristen Stewart cannot act. Trust me, I sat through Adventureland and wanted to kill myself because of her.

There, I just refuted all three arguments very simply. :p

Twilight, I think it definatley brings fantasy to real life in a more entertaining and realistic way. I just bought the new book last night and already I love it. Twilight is the way to go! twillight also tells us about the problem that common teenage girls have. but im not saying Harry Potter is bad. i say Harry Potter is incredible. especially that such kind of amazing creativity JK has put in. but i still like twillight better. because that sory a lil bit represents what i feel

People of all ages thoroughly enjoy Harry Potter as well. And if you'll forgive the pun, vampires suck quite a bit as well. But the main difference between the two is Harry Potter has a detailed plot (not to mention sub-plots), well designed characters, and a world that one would want to actually live in. Twilight has paper thing characters, a ridiculously simple plot (blah blah blah Bella loves Edward blah blah blah Edward loves Bella blah blah blah they eventually get married and have a horrifying abomination of a child the end), and I don't know anyone who would want to live in the Twilight world. I'm not saying there aren't people who want to live in Forks, but I'm sure not many people associate with them.

I'm not a massive Harry Potter fan but the Twilight movies are an Emo girls wet dream. The acting is brutal and the actors themselves are irritating just to look at, they wouldn't be out of place if it was called High School Musical 4 The Halloween Danceoff.

True Blood handles the Vampire/Human love story much better and doesn't have Robert Pattinson et al.

Harry Potter is what it is, a very well made series of Movies with some decent acting and some great story and plot lines, the SFX are top notch and the cast reads like a who's who of British talent.

Its harry potter. Twilight is a damn copycat that stole the movie date of Harry Potter so Harry Potter would lose more views. But they backfired because they were better than ever so Twilight decided to keep on trying to beat Harry Potter. What they don't know is that their movies are gonna lose no matter how good they are. Harry Potter is simply better. End of Discussion

Things Harry Potter has that Twilight doesn't have much or any of:

-Special effects

-good acting

-new and interesting creations

-limitless magic

-a lovable cast

Things Twilight has that Harry Potter doesn't:

-Kristen Stewart (cannot act)

-a choice between necrophilia and bestiality

-close-ups of pale, mopey "teens"

-Sparkling vampires.....

-A constantly shirtless guy (this is the only "good" thing in the series... and only if you're into that kind of thing)

Harry Potter is better than the Twilight Saga because J.K Rowling created an entirely new magical world, while Stephenie Meyers created vampires which sparkle in the light. J.K Rowling would obviously deserve more praise because she created a world of magical spells, rules, Ministries, schools, items and everything else related to magic out from pure nothingness.

Twilight could NEVER compare to Harry Potter.

Harry Potter is about bravery, love, and determination. It is wonderfully written, and makes you want to laugh, cry, and to zoom off to Hogwarts on a flying broomstick. It expresses the true meaning of life, and is the most beautiful, imaginative, funny, sad, and creative story anybody will ever write.

Twilight is the worst book I have ever read. Meyer constantly talks about Edward's beauty (WE GET IT HIS EYES ARE ABMER!) and contradicts her plot.

She also tries to explain Edward's fertility with science. However, her "logic"has dozens of holes. Bella and Edward are clearly not in love, they always complain about there personalities. They mainly just care about there looks. Bella is just utterly annoying; whiney, clingy, and undcoordinated. And Bella, I'm sorry to break it to you sweetheart, but Life isn't always fair.

Meyer admitted she doesn't consider her audience when she writes. She said that she writes for herself.

The whole series encourages domestic abuse, stalking, unsafe sex, droppping out of school, and suicide, to name a couple of things.

And when you think about it, the whole series is just a rip-off of Romeo and Juliet.

Twilight is just a movie for teenagers, but Harry Potter is a classic for all ages people will be talking about for centuries.

Side: Harry Potter

Psssht. HP all the way baby. Twilight degrades the feminist movement because bella has to depend on edward of taylor whatever his name is. She has to depend on them, she isn't independent thus making females weaker than they are. Hermoine can take care of herself without Harry and Ron plus shes the most powerful witch. What kind of vampire sparkles in light??? Oh yeah...fag vampires. They are ruining the image that vampires have established over the long long years. Stephanie Meyer is NOT the next JK Rowling nor will she come close. JK owns the throne. Plus if the HP universe and the twilight universe went head to head, the HP universe would decimate the competition in mere moments. Even my own sister whos in high school admits twilight is kinda gay. Twilight promotes the idea of sex, and even Emma Watson hates twilight. She said it herself. She said the same thing about twilight promoting sex. Plus the only reason twilight is big is because they use attractive actors who don't know shit about REAL flippin vamps. Its all about sex. Like the saying goes, "Sex sells." And for me those who follow twilight, they will follow whatever MTV garbage tells em to follow. I just wish the twilight saga wasn't invented. Well, at least if you're smart enough you'll watch and like HP over that obvious garbage. HP fans are worthy fellows. Twilight will never stand the test of time. Harry Potter will always be a milestone in the book and movie world. HP for life!!!

Side: Harry Potter

Harry Potter is definitely better. I actually have the Twilight Books (yes, all of them, God help us), but I haven't read them BECAUSE i have seen the movie. I mean, DAMN. I think the author of twilight must have been an Emo, because she writes about suicide and breaking up etc. and the only people who have fanbases are teenage emo chicks. And, I believe that The Goblet of Fire was the worst Harry Potter movie, and it coincidentally had Robert Pattinson in it, acting in the perfect role as a complete basterd who dates the lead character's girlfriend.

Harry Potter is better than twilight, simply because Harry Potter simply has a great story, and J.K. Rowling claims to have first thought of the story on a train in 1989. Meyers thought of her story about three years before it was published. Let me see... Three years... Eight years... I can't figure it out, but maybe this slightly explains why there is a slightly better story.

Side: Harry Potter

Although I don't really like either, if it came down to it, Harry Potter! Twilight is just boring. Pretty much nothing good happens throughout the ENTIRE saga. Twilight covers some rubbish themes (abuse, obsession and lack of attraction), I swear the only thing that saved it from tanking was the horny werewolf. On the other side of things, Harry Potter covers themes like friendship, the importance of education and good triumphing over evil. Plus, Harry the pansy was saved by every other character in the book.

Side: Harry Potter

Harry Potter! Twilight is less imaginiative, therefore it is not as interesting. Instead of creating an alternate fantasy world, it debutes all it's quirks and tricks amoung the same world, our world. It's concepts are powerful, yet they involve everyday tactics, ones we too are familiar with, ones we also do everyday. HP is much more far fetched, but in saying that I mean it in the best way possible. Hogwarts and Diagon Alley VS. The real world. Of course the mythical 'underworld' of HP is much more alluring and unfamiliar, all the more reason to desire being apart of that universe, we already have our own world.

Side: Harry Potter

Well for starters, Harry Potter requires an IQ of at least 100 to even begin to understand. Where as Twilight requires that you just have a brain stem and eyes. But then let's compare values. Harry Potter values courage, valor, the fight between Right and Wrong! It teaches that not all people are Just good or Just bad but that there is in fact a Grey Area. Twilight teaches little teenage girls that you're nothing without a boyfriend and that if he breaks up with you, you should just kill yourself in hopes of getting his attention back. Then there is the bluntly obvious reasons as to why Twilight is a pathetic attempt to crave attention of the masses. Harry Potter INCLUDED hundreds of Magical Objects/Creatures/Places/People that WE ALREADY KNEW ABOUT!!! Want an example? Centaurs, if you've never heard of one before Harry Potter you've lived under a rock. Want another example??? The Basilisk! YES THEY ARE REAL! Go look it up. No they are not Giant Snakes that live in underground hidden chambers. They are lizards also known as Corytophanidaes. But let's be serious here. How many vampire books and/or movies have YOU EVER READ that had sparkling vampires in them? Not including Twilight series. Let's think...Did Bela Lugosi sparkle? What about Wesley Snipes, Richard Roxburg? Stephen Moyer, Alexandar Skarsgard? Oh wait what about Max Schreck, Gary Oldman (WHO WAS IN HARRY POTTER TOO! coincidence? I think not.), Leslie Nielsen, Gerard Butler? Do tell. Did any of those ever sparkle? I believe they did not. You show me a sparkling vampire that is not from twilight, a LEGITIMATE vampire, and I will show you a devout Harry Potter fanatic that will blow your theory out of the water.

Bite me you carnivorous sparkly fairie! Oh wait...you don't eat humans...do you? I see...The vampire in Harry Potter did. You all remember him right? Sixth book at Slughorn's party, Sanguini. Yeah he was a REAL vampire.

Twilight is a fad. And like all fads will disappear when these movies are finally done coming out. Harry Potter however will last forever. The Plot and Subplots are better, the characters have more depth, and the books are books that everyone can read. I've read all the Twilight books and I'll be the first to admit I didn't totally hate them. But I never actually picked them up again. It was a one time thing. I've worn the binding off my Harry Potter books from reading them over and over again. When my children are old enough I'll read the books to them too. The point is, not only is Harry Potter better because it has a better plot, its actually created a legacy. One that will last a long time.

Its a no-brainer on this one. HARRY POTTER OF COURSE. The Twilight books are waaaaay overrated- I tried readinfg the first one and couldn't even read the second page- its so badly written and not in the least convincing enough for anyone to enjoy it. J.K. Rowling on the other hand is just incredible, I love the Harry Potter series and will never forget when I read the first ever book and, admittedly, I went to go and watch the The Philosopher's Stone at the cinema four times...
