Air would win easily. Wind can erode earth. Air could (assuming that the elements are intelligent; though they would have to be in order to fight) redistribute oxygen to instantly snuff out any fires. Air can also take in water, break it apart (as in evaperation) and redistribute it whereever it chooses.

i'm sorry I was confused. I didn't realize that we were working with sentient elements that could rearrange their content. I'm pretty sure if that were the case then the earth would simply cause cataclysmic earthquakes, destroying the earths forests and changing the composition of the atmosphere forever. Remember that the only thing keeping the air on the earth is gravity: gravity caused mostly by massive amounts of earth.

Let's look at the scenarios.

Fire Vs. Earth - Earth doesn't burn, pile enough sand on the fire, it goes out.

Air Vs. Earth - Oooo air blows the earth around. Its still there. Earth causes the air to get all dusty and gross. Neither actually defeat each other.

Water Vs. Earth - They don't fight, they combine to become mud. Which is still earth. (Pour some water on your dirt, the water disappears and there is only mud left. Since mud is earth, it is still standing.

Secondly; no element has anything to lose or gain for another. Water doesn't "win" if it extinguishes a fire. It doesn't get points, get more voting in "element congress", or win a medal of some kind.

In reality, all of the elements are working in tandem. They are interacting on a massive scale, and in most cases they are creating each other.

Of course air would win! Neither fire nor water nor earth can harm it so generally speaking it IS the most powerful element! It rules the others! Earth would smother fire while water will win over fire as well!

So looking at it, fire does seem to be dangerous but it can be considered the weakest as all the other three elements can defeat it easily though air might spread it around and help it progress!

Well I think all elements are even if u r talking about magic but if its science then maybe Earth or fire. I kinda like Lightning though.

But I don't know why so many like air, I think Air has the most variety but Its not the strongest. Like if its air verses Earth u could say air

errodes Earth or u pressure the air to make it cut stone, but think of the imence energy required to compress it to the extent where it could cut

stone. If its Earth u could use that same energy to compress its self so Air wouldn't be able to scratch it. Earth could trap air and force its

With fire Wind can blow out fire, but what about an actual explosion u can't blow that out, or nuclear fusion or fission. Fire could heat the air

With Wind against Water there kinda the same but water is made of something stronger than air, there is nothing holdning the air molecules together

whereas water has intermolecular forces between the molecules to if they both clash the air would fall apart because nothing is holding it together.

The only reason wind affects the tides is because the water doesn't resist they both work together thats nature.
