The Electoral College votes for the candidate who wins the electoral vote in their respective states and districts. Which in turn is determined by we the voters. Contrary to popular belief, the Electoral College has NEVER voted against the candidate who actually garnered most votes in their districts. At least to the point where an election result was effected. Although technically, they do have the right to do so. that said, the College is going to vote for the same person who would win the election even if it went to the Popular vote. Which is going to be Hillary Rodham Clinton. I Don't think it's gonna even be that close. Also...contrary to what you claimed..the DNC is not nearly as fractured in their choices for their candidate as is the GOP. Bernie is old news. The Party now squarely stands behind Hillary. Be that for better or for worse! LOL. So ya better get used to hearing the words, "Madame President." SS Side: Hillary Clinton

Actually 4 presidents have won without the popular vote: John Quincy Adams in 1824 Rutherford B. Hayes in 1876 Benjamin Harrison in 1888 George W. Bush in 2000 (although John Quincy Adams didn't actually win the electoral college vote either) Side: Hillary Clinton
Yeah looked that up too when I was researching the electoral college. But those guys did not win because the board if electors voted against the majority of their constituency. Rather, those guys won the electoral votes and not the popular vote because if the winner take all policy in several states. Where a candidate gets all votes even if he wins by only one e.v. The OP alluded that the College might vote against the popular vote. I wanted to state that it never does that. Side: Donald Trump

Progressivism is a philosophy based on the idea of progress, which asserts that advancement in science, technology, economic development, and social organization are vital to improve the human condition. Progressivism became highly significant during the Age of Enlightenment in Europe, out of the belief that Europe was demonstrating that societies could progress in civility from barbaric conditions to civilization through strengthening the basis of empirical knowledge as the foundation of society.[1] Figures of the Enlightenment believed that progress had universal application to all societies and that these ideas would spread across the world from Europe.[1] Sociologist Robert Nisbet defines five "crucial premises" of the Idea of Progress as being: value of the past; nobility of Western civilization; worth of economic/technological growth; scientific/scholarly knowledge obtained through reason over faith; the intrinsic importance and worth of life on Earth.[2] The term is often used as shorthand for a more or less left-wing way of looking at the world. Beyond this, the meanings of progressivism have varied over time and from different perspectives Side: Hillary Clinton
