The smoking ban

By the smoking ban, I refer to the ban on smoking in public places and buildings as is the law in at least Britain and America, as in the UK.

I am against the ban, I think it is up to private entities to decide whether they want to allow smoking or not. If the owner of a building wants it to be smoke free, then I think they should be allowed to have the legal power to do so, but if a place wants to allow smokers, it should also be able to do so.

Bans rarely end well and are rarely ever justified. Government should usually not have the ability to ban what we do in our spare time. This includes smoking.

While the effects of second hand smoke can at times be harmful, the market is already handling this by creating e-cigs. As well, it would make much sense to end subsidies for tobacco farms. This will cause the market to shift far more into buying and selling e-cigs.

Well.. I couldn't see why not.

But if a owner of a pub or something wanted to allow smoking inside, then it should be a sign showing, that there is smoke inside. In case people with astma and that kinda thing walsk in.

But seriously, for the owner's own reason, I think its stupid to allow smoke inside.

If he every decides to sell it, it'll be pretty hard considering all the smoke inside.

And that smoke is not easy to get away. It changes the color of the room, and it sticks to the fabric that the house is made from.

I agree it should be up to the Pub/Building's owner I know the argument for the ban is it makes the atmospehere in the Pub cleaner but to gain entrance you have to walk past all the smokers congregated outside who are huddled around the door trying to keep out of the rain and i'm a bit old fashioned when it comes to Pubs I like the old English Pubs where people came to drink which were always smoke filled, one thing I find interesting with the ban is the smoking area is the most fun place to hang out and people seem friendlier and more willing to chat

Also, a pub might gain some extra business if it was "The ONLY smokers pub in town"
