The soul in Christianity is much better because you get a white robe, a harp, a halo and a pair of wings. How cool is that? ;)

Buddhists don't believe in souls. =p

Ironically though, they still believe in reincarnation.

True, Buddhists believes reincarnation into ghosts, animals(from elephants to ants), Hell (with a specific time-frame ). They also believe in reincarnation as an angles. Fishing, killing creatures even like ants can give you reincarnation as cat, dogs or worst go to hell. I don't know what will be happened if we take antibiotics, we killed virus or bacteria and so we go to hell ? So what some Buddhists do when they see someone who is really unethical and unjust. First they say he is a bad one so bad thing will happen to him. If bad things didn't happen to the bastard until he die, they contemplate that he/she will go to Hell or will become an animal after this life.

Wow, that is the single most unattractive description of Christianity I've ever heard.

So you're telling me that an all powerful god won't let babies into heaven because they didn't get a little water sprinkled on their head?

I'm assuming then you must be pro-abortion. I mean if your god is willing to be so evil toward newborns and you're cool with that, how on earth could you condemn a mere mortal for removing a cluster of cells?

That's off topic though.

Do you have proof of any of these rantings? And are you aware of how utterly insane you sound?

sorry, I didn't mean to put that information about the children going to hell/limbo. christianity has many branches, I am catholic and I believe that abortion is wrong. unborn souls and children go directly to heaven. I was copyng some points from wikipedia. there are different view about heaven/hell, abortion, and the soul. but commonly most christians believe that we obtain salvation through jesus christ, and that there is a heaven/hell. after we die, we are jugde and send to heaven and hell. others believe that our souls are put in a temporary heaven/purgatory until the final jugment.

Why do you find these beliefs of the soul more desirable then Buddhist beliefs?

Side: the soul in buddhism

This may simply be due to lack of opportunity, but going by historic example a Buddhist seems almost infinitely less likely to kill another human for not believing the same thing they believe. And every depiction of Buddhism seems to portray it as something of a thinking religion (as much so as any religion could be) while Christians seem to be opposed to the practice for some odd reason (perhaps thinking would lead to the religion's demise is why - this is my theory anyway).

Either way though, there is no such thing as a soul, only a brain. And the brain dies shortly after we stop breathing. While alive I'd much prefer the company of a Buddhist, as nearly any non-christian would I think.

I agree, but I have troubles labeling Buddhism as a religion, it's more of a theism, or philosophy hybrid.

I think all religion is a philosophy, most simply refuse to label it as such. If it were approached in that way I think there would likely be less of them. At any rate, it being more philisophical explains why I'm so much more comfortable with it I suppose.

I'm a Buddhist, and soul in Buddhism is not different from spirit. You can also call it mind stream. Since everything as we understand and able to conceived or not comes with duality, white has dark, good has evil, top has bottom. There is nothing in this universe can escape it's own problem. Every existence has its own problem where existence is a function between 2 entities, not an absolute defined entity. There is no such thing as forever. God in the view of perfect and forever does not exist. Everything is subjective to the provider and receiver. We all are part of each other due to the cause and effects by nature. So soul in Buddhist is just a mind stream that entangles within what is desired till we all let go and relieve from reincarnation. Therefore, there is no such thing as better soul as Christian or Buddhist. Buddhism only means you follow teachings of the Buddha. Reality is what it is. Teachings for the Buddha taught not to segregate entities, race, sex, believes, etc. Again, it is what it is. You can only find peace with contentment. So no, there is no better or worse soul from different religion. Anybody that says it are just labeling things and segregate people due to others' believes.

What 'soul' in christianity, there is no soul. I say this because of the dark history of lies, murders and wars under the vatican's rule.
