The strawman strawman.
Basically my stance is that I'm tired of the strawman card because it seems that anyone can use it in any argument. What are you're thoughts on the strawman card?

Well, it's true that the strawman card is pulled at inappropriate times, but I think we can just attribute it to red herrings and such. Like iamdavidh's ability to pull out many red herrings in order to avoid a real debate on the subject... really, he'll try and convince you that you believe in something that you don't. Good thing he's not good at it. It's important to point out the many logical fallacies that others use in order to cut to the important part. Not many will listen, but that'll just make them look stupid, hopefully. Side: Disagree

To some people it is just a "trigger" word as an attempt to stop the opponent in their tracks for fear of committing a logical fallacy. I've encountered maybe like 3 people (can't remember them off the top of my head, but they publicly accused me in a debate on this site) who used the "straw man" accusation against me, when it clearly was not. It implied that they had a false definition of what a straw man argument was. Side: Disagree
