The word religion is like the word sports. Badmitton and Boxing are not alike.

The word "Religion" is like the word "Sports". Christian eschatology and commitments resemble the eschatology of Islam about as much as the sport of Basketball resembles the sport of Golf... Not much. They have a ball in common.

Sam Harris is an Atheist who wrote the book titled "The End of Faith". I used him because it is he himself in the video making the claim that religions are not all alike, just like sports are not all alike. Some are dangerous, some are not.

In the video he points out that "Extremism" and "Fundamentalism" are not the problem. The problem is what the Fundamentalism is in reference to. For example, someone practicing Jainism actually becomes less threatening, the more Extremist they become with their religion. They begin trying to not step on bugs because they don't want to kill anything.

Osama Ben Laden's extremism was dangerous because Islam in dangerous. The more extreme you become in Islam and actually apply the teachings of Muhammed, the more dangerous and violent you must become.

Billy Graham's extremism was not dangerous because Jesus taught to love your enemy, to not live by the sword, and to pray for those who hurt you, thus to become more extreme in Christianity makes you less violent.

Hello again, bront:

I agree with Sam Harris about radical fundamentalism..

Where I disagree with you, is that your radical fundamentalist religion is forced down my throat too.. For example, people who work for Christian companies are FORCED to adhere to Christian fundamentalist principles.. You remember when Hobby Lobby FORCED their female employees to pay for their own health care because of their Christian values..

Badminton and Boxing aren't the same. I dunno what this badmitton game is.

So go ahead. Debate me on the topic. The video is simply a bonus. The topic still exists with or without the video.

Sam Harris is a famous atheist and a philosophy populariser.

Though I didn't like some of his works (because they were rather ignorant), he still does a pretty fine job.

I don't think that Atheists understand that by attacking Christianity, they are rejecting the Western world, and what it is replaced by is anyone's guess. I'm an atheist, and I realize that this is unforgivably stupid. Atheists like me need to learn to pick their alliances better.
