To paraphrase Mitch Hedberg:

"Pancakes are like a bad comedian. They're really good at first, but by the end, you're fucking sick of them."

To paraphrase Hedberg again: "Waffles are just pancakes with little syrup traps."

That is so true, I thought I was going to throw up after I went to ihop's all you can eat pancake thing. Not that I don't like ihop or anything.

It is pretty hard to mess up a waffle that and you can do all kinds of stuff with waffles. You can have a waffle for breakfest or dessert! I love waffles probably since I can make them without messing up.

Side: Waffles

Texture is everything. Waffles have a much better texture.

Plus it is much more socially acceptable to put a whole can of whipped cream on a waffle than a pancake.

Side: Waffles

I agree texture IS everything. ;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;

Waffles are just so good. They are easier to cook then pancakes and harder to mess up. Waffles might be my favorite food.

Waffles are great! You can put all sorts of things on waffles like cream, syrup, strawberries etc. This makes waffles highly customizable. You can try different types of waffles and decide which type you like best. We all know that variety is good.

Pancakes are a different story. The only pancake I've ever seen are crepes and the pancakes with maple syrup with a dollop of butter on top. I don't see anyone put different things into their pancakes unlike waffles. This is why I think that waffles are better than pancakes.

Side: Waffles

waffles are so much better because they hold the syrup in the little holes and its just a texture thing

Waffles for the win!

You have more options with waffles, because you can do anything you could do with a pancake and more! You can bake chocolate chips or blueberries in, or put jelly or something on the top. Also, if you buy them from the store in those boxes, you can get those little pictures on them.

Waffles win.

Waffles are much more versatile, you can have waffles covered in ice cream to ;)

Belgian waffles, throw some fruit on top, maybe powdered sugar! damn it is to late to crave food ...

From seriouseats.com:

Thick heart-shaped bittersweet double-chocolate waffles sensually topped with crunchy caramelized bananas. . . orange-almond-cumin waffles ladled with a rich heady creamy curried quail. . . oh! She loved his lemon thyme waffles luxurious with the fresh lobster claws holding hands on top, dotted with jewel-like aromatics in that pink vodka sauce. . . or the seven-grain waffle sandwich stuffed with Greek salad drizzled with biting tahini sauce. . .ah! There, those dreamy rosewater–peach waffles were dancing by her, twirling in the air with divine insouciance as she watched, the two round smiling matching curves of strawberry sorbet and lemon gelato glistening on top as they shimmered by in the night. So much waffle-y bliss!

Pancakes have nothing on this.

Waffles are so delicious, and all of their little ridges and edges hold so much syrup and feel so good in your mouth. And now I'm hungry.

Waffles without a doubt. They are crispy and tasty and just yumm!

I have never eaten a waffle that I did not like. Can't say the same for pancakes.

But don't get me wrong pancakes are good to.

They just aren't waffles.

Usually I like waffles, but sometimes if I'm really hungry I like pancakes because they fill you up more. I hardly ever eat either one though :(

Pancakes are the bomb. I demand you add this image to the debate to make it fair at least.

Side: Pancakes

Pancakes, def! I can always count on pancakes to be soft, and warm. Sometimes waffles are crunching, yuck!

Side: Pancakes

Only my mom could make waffles that were the bomb! I loved those but I make the best pancakes this side of heaven or hell so I have to go with pancakes...seriously!

Pancakes are great! You can do almost anything with pancakes. What you can't do with pancakes, you can do with crepes, which pretty much count as pancakes. The only thing you can't do with pancakes that you can do with waffles, is combine them with fried chicken. I don't understand why you combine fried chicken and waffles, but maybe you can do it with pancakes, too...

I like the versatility of pancakes. Their good by themselves, or with fruit, or better yet for a sweet and savory alternative you can sprinkle them with cinnamon sugar and wrap them around bacon or a sausage. Delicious.

pancakes are defenitally better than waffles. waffles are to hard and the scratch you throat pancakes are fluffy clouds of goodness. pancakes are for patsys and unamerican nazi bastards!!!

Pancake: Mix, pour, flip, add butter, enjoy :)

or

Waffle: mix, pour, close griddles, open griddles, pry out, add butter, add other shit, regret :(

The only real competition the pancake has is french toast.

Meh, what's with your American pancakes? Pancakes are supposed to be thin and have a radius of at least 13cm.

I love getting a stack of buttermilk pancakes and putting lots of butter but not maple syrup on them.
