Thoughts on the Religious Left vs the Religious Right?

Clearly in the current USA politics the Religious Right is dominant over the Religious Left. But what's curious to me about that... a) Lots of justification for the Right believing and acting on what they do is the myth of the godlessness and sin of their opposition, and a more active or united Religious Left would largely invalidate that claim. b) Whether Right or Left would vary based on the stage in history you look at it. Back when the Roman Catholic church dominated Christianity on the globe and said do it our way or go to hell then they clearly were speaking from the Right, and it was the Protestants which would have been in the Left slot. And now in contemporary times with a new Pope in many ways the Roman Catholic Leadership is more Left while the Fundamentalist Protestants are the Right. c) Debates on these websites would take on a whole different atmosphere if every time the Right dropped a dozen scriptures the Left was ready with a dozen counter scriptures. d) Face it, some of the champions of the Right, like Trump himself, really are not model Christians, whereas champions of the Left often lived lives immersed in helping the poor and needy. It's a stark contrast. 2

It's a false dichotomy. The "Christian left" generally disregards many commands in the Bible, has ideas that are un-biblical, and thinks Islam is its good friend. They tend to think that mixing and matching in a so called "melting pot" is a good thing, despite the Bible saying otherwise. In other words, they are more or less spiritual secularists who don't faithfully stand behind Christ or his teachings, and this luke-warm "Christianity" is why the United States is becoming the new Sodom and Gommorah. 1

Couldn't have expected otherwise in a clash of dogmatists of denominations. Whether Right or Left would vary based on the stage in history you look at it. Of course it would. Those words don't directly represent any eternal concepts, after all. There is almost no Christianity where I live. Which means it's all at the extreme left. But that doesn't matter - India is a secular country. Debates on these websites would take on a whole different atmosphere if every time the Right dropped a dozen scriptures the Left was ready with a dozen counter scriptures If it was an entirely American site for religious debates. But it isn't. As you can see, christian theology is dead here. Face it, some of the champions of the Right, like Trump himself, really are not model Christians, whereas champions of the Left often lived lives immersed in helping the poor and needy. It's a stark contrast. When Stain reproached Catholicism, I realised - it is the Evangelicalism and Protestants that are the disgrace on Christianity. The Religious Left has only one thought on religion and that is the Religion of Islam. Even though that religion does not stand for anything the Progressives believe they will defend that religion at all costs. The twisted mentality of Progressives is shown in a religion they really don't understand nor do they want to. |
