Teachers are going around telling everyone to help stop deforestation but they still give out new note taking copies each semester when the old ones have not finished. Computers would help in this. Tue children could bring their own laptops too.
According to your opinion we have to use everywhere computer not only in school to save papers. And we can use reusable papers.I think this is the solution of saving papers.
Nowadays, people do not economy the paper. they do not think about ecology!!.....and students will help to save our world !....but it can influence to their health, nevertheless people spent all free time in playing computer game and in social sites. and it is playing not so important role. and it will useful for teachers to check students homework.
Not just to save paper but it's much easier. Instead of losing homework, and all your papers, your have it all in one big folder your computer. Typing is much faster than writing and typing is way more eficeint.
(my school has had us use netbooks and it works way better)
i quiet agree with the opinion that it is easier to use computers in order to save papers, it means that we also save trees. But, on the other hand, computers have bad influence on our health!
just think a little! would you choose hard way, but not harmful and dangerous or you would better choose easy way, but with harmful and dangerous consequences?
you know that nowadays we have a lot of things which can protect ourselves from bad influence of computers, also if computers are very bad for our health why many schools have computers and use them very often, and why our goverment allow to use computers? Because they know that people can solve many difficult objectives with computers.
give an example of protecting things!do you think all the people use them? many schools have them in order to teach children to be able to use computers further. this is 21 century and we should know computer skills for getting good job. government allows us to use computers because it is easier to solve problems with computer. even if we need in computers we still suffer from it.
Ok for example cactus the scientists poved it. The computer helps to evaluate complex problems and equations. Programs such as MatLab and MatCad are indispensable for students, as offering many opportunities for the calculation of complex logarithmic functions and other equations that calculate the self is problematic
i wonder if you use this cactus?in my opinion the majority don't use it!computers make people's lives easier. we can use it at homes, but not at school, at every lessons.
yes we are talking about schools and schools should use cactus in classes and it would be better. We should use computers at schoold because we can find a lot of informations in the interenet during the classes and i'm sure that using computers are very useful.
in my point of view computers are not so useful for pupils at school. it will disturb children from education. during classes they can use computers for their own aims like playing games, especially Internet! children will be able to enter to every site which they want so they will not study they will entertain at classes. it would be better to use papers!
sorry but i'm not interesting in you opinion just give me real arguments, no students will not be able to visit many sites in the Internet or playing games because teachers can block many sites and deleate games.
according to the experts children should be banned from using computers in schools until they are nine-years-old because the early use of technology is destroying their attention spans!here is an argument. even scientist are against of using computers at school.

but again what about eyesight and radiation?we can get cancer because of spending a lot of time in front computers. i am not against of using computers at home, but using it at schools is not beneficial. it is a modern life, but not all the teachers can use computers!in addition it is difficult to look after all pupils during the class. teachers should always come separately to each person in order to explain different tasks. moreover, there are some sites that are false. how can children know to what believe and to what not!
at school computers have eyes protection on the screan and it really helps to protect eyes. Ok now many teachers can't use computers because when they were young they didn't have computers, that's why a lot of old people can't use computers but what about young teachers also ofter ten years a lot of people will know how to use computers, and it will be easy to teach people and show some important materials using computers.
but it will take time for taking some advantages of using computers at school. according to one article: "another con of educational technology is that school administrators tend to spend large amounts of money to integrate computers into schools when the effectiveness of programs on students achievement is unclear". so there are a lot of disadvantages that is why i think it is better to use papers. we are using them during many years and we don't have any damages because of it.
You can recycle paper, you can grow trees. You cannot (viably, currently) recycle electricity lost by the laptop. The manufacture and usage of the laptop requires energy, that we mostly get from fossil fuels. Making paper also uses fuels.
There has not been a study on which is better environmentally.
Also, paper notes do not receive viruses and stop working, but laptops can hold significantly more information.
Given the level of knowledge, for now why not just let schools and students decide which one works best for them, and whatever they choose, use it as efficiently as possible?
Actually for many cases you cannot recycle paper. And many people do not care to recycle it, they just throw it away. Year by year there are less places to go trees. Millions of trees are being cut each month for products or area. Laptops can get viruses but paper notes can get lost, forgotten somewhere, ripped or spoiled.
I agree with you that to saving paper we can use recycle papers instead of using computers. And as you said using laptop can destroy our environment system
Yes, I've read this too; recycling doesn't really save substantial quantities of energy and also reduces demand for new paper trees to be grown. But there is a rationale behind recycling. There's reduced landfill, it saves even more forest from needing to be harvested.
And what environment are you referring to? In the sense of preserving the Earth in a way that the ecosystem in which we live in is sustained, then recycling cannot be bad.
Recycling has no monetary benefits except recycling cans, which is to say that it is cheaper just to make new paper than it is to recycle paper. How? It is really goes down to supply and demand schedules and scarcity of resources.
Children should not use computers in schools in order to save paper, these is because the waste produced in using the computer may be equivalent to the negative effects caused when making paper.
When we use computers, electrical energy is needed to power in computers, in these case, in the process where electricity is produced, the two most used and famous processes used in order to produce electricity is actually the burning of fossil fuels and usage of nuclear energy.
These are the details in creating energy through nuclear means and burning of fossil fuels.
Fossil Fuels
In a coal or oil fired power station, the fuel is burned, converting its chemical energy into heat and the heat used to convert water into steam at very high temperature and pressure. This then drives a steam turbine, a device which harnesses the energy in the steam, heat and pressure to produce rotational movement, mechanical energy. The rotating shaft of the steam turbine is coupled to the armature of the alternator, so the final result is electricity.
The fuel is burned, when fuel is burned it produces carbon dioxide, what happens if there is excessive carbon dioxide? Greenhouse effect will occur and eventually leading to global warming.
Nuclear Energy
This is the controversial one. Nuclear fission is a process in which unstable (radioactive) atomic nuclei break down, releasing energy in the form of radiation (escaping particles). By concentrating these nuclei together, a controlled chain reaction is produced releasing huge amounts of energy which is used to convert water into steam. The process of generating electricity in a nuclear power plant is simply by steam turbine, exactly the same as in a fossil fuel plant. The public fear of nuclear power is twofold: the risk of meltdown - an uncontrolled nuclear reactor is not very different from an 'atomic' bomb; also the by-product, radioactive nuclear waste, is none too pleasant.
As an aside - Nuclear energy does not obey the classical Physics law of conservation of Energy. It does however obey the Modern Physics law of conservation of Mass-Energy which allows for interconversion of matter and energy according to Einstein's famous equation E=mc² This fundamental difference means that Nuclear Energy is potentially the most fruitful source of all. It is important that proper scientific research & development into nuclear energy, and Nuclear Fusion in particular, should be allowed to continue.
If in any case that the nuclear power plant has some problems and leaks radiation, it causes more pollution and kill more living organisms, including trees. In other words, less trees will be able to make papers. Currently, there is already two serious nuclear leakage problems, Chernobyl and Japan, Fukushima.
Therefore I conclude that to save paper, children should not use computers in school as the create computer waste.
Yes!!! using computer can effect worse because computer needs much energy so it can effect to global warming. So we have to use reusable paper and not use computer.
Yeah, there will be lots of computer waste produced! Overtime, using paper maybe more environmental clean then using the computers, where computer waste is produced/
For that the children have to be smart enough not to sit 6cm away from the computer. Also my father is in ophthalmology and he says that from sitting to close to a screen a child's eye site cannot weaken. Also a computer may get viruses but paper notes can get lost or ripped. (i explained this in a dispute with the first debater as well)
to be smart enough they need to attain maturity. and that doesnt come soon enough...so till then we need to give them something less dangerous....im sure we dont give knifes to kids..even they help in their projects lol...(maybe to cut) because they eed to knw how to use it ..they need maturity..it goes the same for a laptop
If everyone keep this rule no one fail their eyesight, because it is very hard to keep. And this rule can decrease percent of failing eyesight it cannot take off the failing eyesight.
Mostly the stationery used by children can harm them. Pencils can poke their eyes. Papers can cut them, compass' can scratch them, ink can splatter on them...(i could go on ;) )

With computers there is a ton of stuff that can distract children from actual school work. Even clip art on word can be distracting and more interesting to children than school work.
Ironically, that's how I found this site :') I was bored in my computer class and Facebook and Myspace are blocked, so I found this to entertain me and got hooked lol
Children are going to find distractions everywhere. they can start doodling in their copies too. The school can also block many sites. And open google or yahoo when the child needs to do some work.
but google can lead u too those sites u want...atleast u have images on google. and even if u block those sites it does not mean u cant have a glimpse of them and later go home and check it out .even if they do find distractions elsewhere its ultimately on the student whether or not he wants to create an awesome future for him self ..it takes time for tht impulse to come but till then they need to hang in there.
Plus if the teacher is monitoring the class i do not think that many students would get away with doing such a thing. Also when a marked assignment or project is given children usually focus on it and do not wander off in on their computers
First of all, to use computer in school because of saving paper is it not right reason. And I know that when you are writing something you can memorize better than doing in computer. And we can save paper by using reusable paper but most of people not using reusable paper. And using computers at school can not save a big amount of papers. Also to use computer at school government should buy computers but it is not easy work to the government to use computer because of saving paper, if the reason was like computer education will improve the intellect of children it can be reasonable.
I'm lost here: why do we have to save paper? Forests are increasing in size - the whole idea behind deforestation (ie. "tree hugging") is fallacious/flawed on a fundamental level.
Indeed to save paper we can find another way. Personally, children shouldn`t use computer, instead saving paper, because it`s bad for their health, eye vision. I understand that they are living in developing world, but this is too much.
Children should still write with paper because they're handwriting can be horrible from not writing for so long. I believe that computer is what keeps them from doing their work because they are focused on something else rather then they're work.
I think using computers is not beneficial compare with using papers. First of all, by using computers we also waste papers, as we use printing as well. Moreover, computers are harm for health. As you know the long-term incorrect use of computers and related equipment can expose you to increased health risks. The third reason is why we shouldn't use computers instead of papers is that it is much better to write than type out. In some ways computers can help, but it is still necessary to use papers.
Children don't have enough responsibility to use a computer. Modern life is too convenient for them. They need to do more activities than learning by sitting in front of the computer all day.It's true to save trees but using the computer destroys environment than a paper.
to save paper, children should plant more trees which help in paper production...cause u can plant seeds and grow them but u cant plant "computer seeds" and grow them rofl.
Ok. that actually made me laugh (the computer seed part) actually if we plant seeds it takes years for the tree to actually go to a height where it can be used for a product and there is less space in the world now to plant the trees.
why is there less place in the world to plant trees ? because uve been manufacturing laptops...u need to dig out resources. and besides diging is just a one time option- u cant dig and then ....after few years expect tht place to grow resources,,they get exhausted!!.finally i guess if we pick ur trend then we shud mine under our houses when everything runs out. but well trees,,,they grow even if it means long time...and u can make paper out of any pulpy source...they can be even garden weeds..u only need the [pulp.
As the years go by more and more forests are disappearing. Industries are everywhere and they will not shut down because humans will always want more. In years there will be new inventions meaning more factories, industries, building e.t.c
