For too long the nations of Europe, especially wealthy Germany, have directed their fiscal policies towards an economic climate which favours the growth of the private industrial sector ( Mercedes, Volkswagen, Audi, B.M.W, etc,) to the cost and detriment of their respective defense budgets. This was made possible as the other member nations of N.A.T.O, knew they could rely on the good old U.S.A., to protect them from the military threat of the former U.S.S.R, throughout the cold war period and the current threat of a belligerent and expansionist Russia. Only the U.K. commits over 2% of it's G.D.P, to defence as opposed the the United State's figure of close to 3.5 and an European average of approximately 1.4 to 1.6%. China's defense spending has increased by 170% since 2002 and Russia is currently engaged in a major build up of its already formidable armed forces. President Trump has told the other N.A.T.O, countries to recognise that this western military alliance was formed to protect Europe, not the U.S.and for all the member countries to make a financial commitment more commensurate with their national wealth. Well, maybe America should direct it's fiscal policy to help the working class American, rather than helping warmongers. Do you ever stop and think why the US spends as much money on defense as the next 15 countries COMBINED, (hint: to isn't to spread freedom). We love hiding the truth behind that word, don't we? Whenever we attack an oil rich country in the Middle East it's to 'spread freedom'; it's obviously not because of the oil. America has military bases in over 70 foreign countries. Now to me that's doesn't seem like it's for defense, it seems to me that it's to tell countries to know their place or else they might receive some of this 'American freedom' we like spreading so much of. The reason why America is paying so much of NATO'S bill is because America has a lot of power within NATO. The more money America contributes the more closely NATO'S policy reflect America's interests. Side: Is that BAD??

Another complete distortion and deception by a Liberal on this site. It was never Trump's position to no longer protect Nato allies if they did not pay their fair share. His strategy as with many issues, is to make provacative statements in an attempt to get people's attention and getting them to the negotiating tables. It works as we are already seeing with a major reduction in illegal immigration. It's about time we have a President fighting for Americans instead of aplogizing for Americans! Side: Is that GOOD?

What they are probaby saying is that Liberals such as yourself will ALWAYS find fault with Trump no matter if he is doing the right thing or not. Maybe you don't realize that these other nations have debt to America as well. All nations have debt to other nations. I agree that our national debt is hideous and should be addressed. Why would you attack Trump for finally trying to do SOMETHING to cut our defense spending and debt? How many times have I heard the Left say that cutting some Government sponsered TV programs, or cutting wasteful spending in other Government programs is a drop in the bucket. THOSE DROPS ADD UP IF WE CUT ENOUGH OF THEM! It's all about taking a serious look at our debt and getting a new mindset to STOP THE MADNESS OF DEBT SPENDING. Getting people focused on the problem is the first step to addressing the problem. Side: Is that GOOD?
On July 3, 2008, presidential candidate Barack Obama said this: The problem is, is that the way Bush has done it over the last eight years is to take out a credit card from the Bank of China in the name of our children, driving up our national debt from $5 trillion for the first 42 presidents — #43 added $4 trillion by his lonesome, so that we now have over $9 trillion of debt that we are going to have to pay back — $30,000 for every man, woman and child. That’s irresponsible. It’s unpatriotic Oops so where did your number of 19,922,204,400,000 come from ? Side: Is that GOOD?
