As a liberal (forced to be), I think political correctness gets carried too far quite often. It's not far from religious mantra in that way. The "carried too far" situations in political correctness seem to run out of steam after a short time, religious mantra sticks around, sometimes for centuries. The Constitution, at least for the time being, limits religious correctness to those within that religion but it gets abused. We can't stop that and we can't stop political correctness. Such is a democracy.
