There is nothin wrong with sitting on the fence, for a little, or a long while, whatever it may take for ONE to rationally make a choice, for what they know is best for ALL of mankind.-If ONE can find no option of rational choice, from either side of the fence, than isnt it wiser to sit on that fence, and choose niether, for the sake of ALL mankind?Or even at times, perhaps, stand on that fence instead and offer up another possible "rational option" altogeather. What is Right? What is Left? What is considered Right in Russia (communist party) is not what would Americans think of as Right. The Right in GB is much more liberal than in the US. The Left in the US is probably Right in Greece and Italy (democracies, by the way). So let's agree on a definition first. Left: Social Issues are as equal as or sometimes supersede personal issues. We are responsible for each other. We are a group of people who must live together. Right: Personal issues are always above everything else. Everybody for him/herself. Personal Responsibility above all. Strict paternalistic and theistic society. So where am I? Sometimes I am on the Left (socialized medicine, no war machine, no mass killings in the name of some fictitious war on terror, separation of Church and State). Sometimes I am on the Right. You are responsible for your life's success and failure. I deeply hate bureaucracy (both corporate and government mind you) Sometimes it's difficult for me to reconcile these two but hey, we are not robots, are we? Mostly I find myself supporting American Left (sic) Side: Left

I'm pretty far to the left of the American spectrum. There are a few positions where I stand with Conservatives, but only coming from a decidedly Left point of view. There's alot of wiggle-room, and many things considered "Right" or "Left" are really pretty open to either conception of things. One side sort of randomly picked it as their own and the other, wanting to be different from the opposing side, decided to stand against it. I wholeheartedly believe that wealth should be shared by all. I stand behind the rights of gays and lesbians to enjoy all of the same rights and privileges of the straight population. I believe that immigration should be open, but that educational and job programs should help integrate different cultures into our society. I believe in the right to keep and bear arms, within reason. I believe that hunting is quite alright, that eating meat is morally acceptable. I believe that healthcare should be a fundamental right, free for individuals (beyond the taxes everyone must pay to fund it). I believe that all media resources should be held by the public. Television, radio, and the internet should be independent from the government, but run by non-profits answerable to the public whom they serve. I believe all education, from pre-K to graduate school should be free (beyond the taxes everyone must pay to fund it). I believe in a strict and severe progressive taxing system, keeping wealth distribution as equal as possible. Abortions are not desirable, but it is decision best left up to the mother. Side: Left
Well, I fall mostly left. Reason is because I'm a progressive Agnostic/Atheist (in case ledhead is still around) who believes in ethics over morals. I also support gay marriage and abortion. I believe in the more progressive nature of raising children, but I also believe that children must learn to respect their parents and to be self-sufficient. So on the right I believe in less government (economy) and in individualism. And, political correctness and gun control doesn't seem to be up there, but I'm right wing with those two, as well. I support the war and I support a stronger military and police force. Side: Left
@ThePyg: How can you support the war and be for less government? Unless you're for outsourcing the war machine to private contractors it does not make sense. The war and the overreaching Big Brother government go hand in hand. Look: under the pretext of the "war on terror" your phone is tapped, your library records are seized, you're are under surveillance. This cannot be done with a small government machine. You're either for war and big government OR peace and small government. Spending more than the rest of the world combined on military doesn't facilitate small government. I am with you on being an atheist, abortion, gay rights, economy though. Side: Right
Small Government applies MAINLY to government interference with OUR lives. The War on Terror has to do with fighting terrorists in the Middle East. How the government uses it in order to pass legislation (such as phone taps) is a separate issue. You CAN fight a war without spying on the citizens. So yes, spending more on military CAN go hand in hand with smaller government. Government becomes big when it interferes with your private lives. Side: Left
Well, I literally cannot think of a single issue I agree with the right on today. I mean there was a time when there was a such thing as a moderate conservative, but people like aedm have turned them into independants or liberals, so thanks for that aedm. Hopefully Faux, Rush, Beck and the rest keep on recruiting for us. Side: Left

same here. Although I vote for the middle, if I had to choose between the two, I would have to choose the right because the left seems to be closer to the belief that minority movements or ideas are more valuable and important rather than what the majority of our citizens want. Side: Right
I'm conservative, and almost a libertarian. I will vote based on the individual, not the party but that doesn't mean that I will ever vote democrat. I hate when independents act like anyone who isn't an independent is voting blindly based on the party. I vote independently it's just that I never have and probably never will have a good reason to vote democrat. Side: Right
I'm just gonna give a more detailed answer for the sake of it and to see where I stand: Conservative Nature - Looks to the Past - Survival Of The Fittest - Idealism - Equality Focus: Society - Goal: Neither - Support: Workers - Trade: Fair Leftwing economy Community based on Morals - The World Can be improved Inclusive - Nationalistic - Conservative Family Instilling moral strengths and absolutes - Relationship based on respect and fear - Strict & Nurturing parent - Tough Love - To succeed To cooperate with others - Self Reliant Child - Self Defence:Morality:Discipline:Reflection Rural (Or small urban) - All jobs but stockbroker and sales. Beliefs Religion - Theistic:Scientific:Organised:Conventio Rights - Neither Criminals - Social and Economic Choices. Homeless - Both Society - Bit of Both Equality is Best. Immigration Control Anti Gay:Anti Abortion:Pro War:Anti Taxcuts:Anti Samesex marriage:Pro God:Anti unmarried sex. Votes For Upholding Order Fairness Helping those who cannot help themselves Strong Role Models Diplomacy Militancy Hawks. Fuuuucckking hell that took long. Quite accurate but would've loved to put a lot more. Side: Right
