The vampire diaries is much better because of the love between Stefan and Elena. Their love is much more passionate. They listen to each other, and both have undergone similar situations. Elena is Stefan's hold to his humanity. The characters in the Vampire Diaries also have a lot of character development, unlike the ones in Twilight, where the vampires seem too perfect. Also, vampires in this book take on more traditional ways, and more interesting abilities and weaknesses. In Twilight, the vampires seem almost indestructible. Bella and Edward also have a large gap in their romance. Bella and Edward meet- Edward is drawn to Bella because her blood smells good and he can't read her mind- Bella is drawn to Edward because he's mysterious and doesn't have a friendly start with him- Edward tells Bella he's a vampire, and suddenly they're in love? How did that happen? No connection built in between that. The Vampire Diaries has more passion, and the courses of events created support to hold up their bridge. Side: Vampire Diaries
The vampire diaries are better. In the show, it doesn't just revolve around Elena and Stefan. There's secrecy in the town, and the links and connections of ancient ancestors to their descendants, and how those descendants connect to each other in return. In Twilight, there's only one storyline: Edward and Bella as Edward struggles to protect Bella from James's coven. In the Vampire Diaries, there's romance, mystery, and much more action than Twilight. There's not only romance, but there's ancient curses, myths, many more creatures are introduced (not just only werewolves and vampires) such as those in Twilight. Side: Vampire Diaries
I totally agree with you. A lot of action gets it going. It is just not Romance that usually certain sensitive people feed on. I mean no offense to no one. But, there has to be a lift from just the two of them. Your absolutely right. I hadn't though of all those earlier. But, now that you mention, It strikes. Side: Vampire Diaries

OMG! HA yall are so freakin stupid. Its not even funny. So you serious find the plot of vampire diaries worse than twilight. You must be on something. Seriously, like Bella is like a freakin mop, all she does is let edward and jacob fight over her while she loves both of them. And the freakin vampires sparkle. like wtfff?? In vampire diaries, she defends herself and she shows actualy emotions unlike some other people coughcough BELLA coughcough. And vampires actually burn in the sun, not sparkle like a freakin glitter princess! Side: Vampire Diaries

I'm siding over here because its the underdog, but in all honesty I despise both of the shows. Twilight and the Vampire Diary series were great books, but when they made them into a movie and a t.v. show they screwed it all up. That's my personal opinion. Fan of the books, but hate the movie and t.v. series. Side: Neither

It's probably Vampire Diaries... when it comes to story, characters and plot. Vampire Diaries is soooo much better than twilight..why? because about the story,... the story is so much very interesting and very close to reality, that it was all like happening in the real life...its very unique, it is not just a romance novel, but also there other spices in it. like thrill, friendship, family, brotherhood.. it is not focus on the love of the main character but also to all the character in the story...and speaking of characters, c'mon why is it the vampires in twilight have their shinning shimmering and splendid looks like..i just can't imagine how the vampire shines when they are exposed in sunlight???in Vampire Diaries they burn in the sun, were supposedly to be..and in twilight why is it the ability of vampires are different to each other??in VD vampires have common abilities, and they have this weakness when it comes to vervain, woods and werewolf bites.. Really, I watch and read both for pure entertainment value and not much more. If I have to choose, I'd side with Vampire Diaries, because the main female characters (Elena and Bonnie) are a lot stronger than Bella or any of her friends. They also seem to actually care about one another. If I were to have a child, I'd much rather he or she emulate the type of friendship Bonnie and Elena have as opposed to the "friendships" Bella has with Mike or Jessica or whichever character. I also strongly dislike Bella, because the girl is an extremely whiny, weakling. Elena's parents died, so at least she's got an excuse to mope on occasion. Side: Vampire Diaries

Having read both books and see the movies and the show (which happens to be my guilty pleasure), I can't help but fully (110%) side with the Vampire Diaries. First of all, Twilight has several flaws. (These have been developed all over the internet-anyone can find them by searching Google if you're interested) The characters are shallow, in my opinion, and lack much depth. Bella is insecure and needy- the only thing I can sort of admire about her is her stubbornness when it comes to being friends with Jake (standing up to Edward for what she wants). Edward is too controlling, a stalker at one point and abusive in different senses of the word (again, in my opinion). There are so many scientifical and inconsistency errors I picked up on when reading the novels that irk me to no end. (Yes, I know-I shouldn't read them if I don't like them but that's my choice to make) Anyway, I can write essays on this topic, which is why I choose to turn to Vampire Diaries instead. Secondly, with regards to the character development in the show, which is my primary focus, I strongly believe it's very well developed. The plot line is very consistent, characters are developed to the nth degree (yes, I have noticed that the triangle gets primary focus but that's happens in every show not just this-it's what sells), AND there is something redeemable about evil characters. For instance, Klaus is pure evil BUT when he helped Caroline at the beginning of s.3 (can't remember which episode), you can easily see there's still a sliver of humanity left that he chooses to bury deep down. Next, Elena is a girl who can a) stand up for herself, b) doesn't rush into things without thinking them through-even if her reasoning is at times flawed (we all make mistakes though-it's human nature), c) when she makes up her mind, there's usually no turning back (Bella is indecisive and gives in to peer-pressure more often than not), etc... Third, the characters have a background which gives them a 3D appearance of sorts. Damon and Stefan's pasts are what drives them to make the decisions they make; their pasts shaped them into who they are. Moreover, one can easily see their personality shown in everything they say, in their actions and in their relationships with others. What I love about them, is that you can so very easily empathize with what they are going through (their relationships and problems they face aren't cliche-it's not all 'OMG! My boyfriend did this, what should I do?') Some of the problems they face are things most teenagers will have to face at one point or another in their lives- death of a parent, dealing with grief, obviously relationships [family or otherwise], school and going to college, sacrifice [of different degrees], etc... Lastly, minor characters play a significant role in the plot. For example, take Katherine. She isn't one of the main characters, yet without her, there would be no Damon and Stefan because they would have died in the 1800s, possibly from old age- who knows? Another example, Klaus- without him, there would be no big problems with the curse and Stefan's Ripper side, etc- he actually is the reason for many, many twists in the plot. And as I previously mentioned, even these minor characters have a 3rd Dimension to them. There's more, which I might add if I remember, but that about sums it up for now. Side: Vampire Diaries

THE VAMPIRE DIARIES IS THE MOST AMAZING SHOW. It isn't just one love story, it's a bunch of them. And it's also not just about love, it has a real story. There are witches and werewolves and travelers and doppelgangers and originals. There's constant battles between life and death and I'm so emotionally invested into the characters' lives. Twilight was okay, but The Vampire Diaries is better, and also more realistic. It has more of a backstory that explains everything. Btw, #Delena forever. Side: Vampire Diaries

So? Just because one has more views doesn't make it better. It just means teens, who can barely express their emotions and deal with their immature problems, turn to the movie to 'experience' something they are lacking in their lives through the characters they are watching. And, to top it off, some (not all-I'm not fond of generalizing) teen girls watching these are more shallow than a kiddy-pool... Side: Vampire Diaries
I think that the Twilight is better, because in Vampire Diary, a lot of people know about their secret, and they can bite everyone just because they couldn't control them self, However in Twilight they try to keep their secret. they control them self. They have a rules, which they should strongly follow. And Love... In my opinion Love between Edward and Bella more romantic. they try to overcome a lot of problem and by overcoming this problem they show how strong their love. So as for me i prefer more Twilight than Vampire's diary Side: Twilight

I completely disagree. Their love is based solely on LUST! When I look at them, I see Romeo and Juliet with a somewhat happy ending. Bella is young, and most likely falls for Edward because she's awed by the fact he cares for her even though, in her opinion, she's 'plain Jane'. Steph Meyer tried to give their romance depth, but I believe she failed at it, unfortunately. I do, however somewhat agree with you on the rules principle, but here, it's Damon who kind of broke them to begin with. Most of the other vampires tried to remain off the radar.
