Videogames are just another form of media. they cannot be blamed as the sole source of an action lest you also believe that violent books or violent television or violent movies are the sole source of all violence in a society.

Vidoegames may elevate aggression, and in turn because the youth don't know how to direct agression may cause violence. but that is a factor of youth. not Videogames.

I don't believe video games cause violence, but it should mostly stay out of the hands of younger children. However, parents are the censors, so its up to them. There is not enough evidence in research to prove either side but violence is a choice, not something video games make you do.

I sincerely and wholeheartedly believe that video games do not cause violence to youth. I think any game is incapable of causing harm to a child, be it in the form of a disc, cartridge, console, PC or even software. My first reason on why I say this is because they are inanimate objects- meaning that they are not alive and conscious, negating any chance of it bringing physical harm to a kid. Furthermore, there isn't much chance for the video game to be emotional scarring, since many video game discs look like any other CDs you can find in shops. In my personal experience as a child, I have never found CDs to be emotionally scarring or visually terrifying in any way.

It's human nature to become like your environment. If someone were to go to a foreign country and experience poverty and hard living then most likely that person will be changed when they return home. Same thing goes for video games and children. Violent video games promote a violent nature by exposing them to violence. In the game, violence might help them win and be a good thing ,so they associate violence as a good thing.

Video games do not give a violent mentality. If a child’s motive is to be violent, that is their fault, not the video games they play. If you want someone to blame, blame the parents. It is their fault for not informing and teaching their kids that things that are in the gaming system is not reality.

When buying a game for your child, there is a rating on the game. The Entertainment Software Rating Board system is designed to give parents the information they need to evaluate before making that purchase. “The ratings are not meant to recommend which games consumers should buy or rent or to serve as the only basis for choosing a product. Rather, parents should use the ESRB ratings in their own taste and standards and their individual knowledge about what’s best for their children.”

First of all, you should be aware that most video games have an ESRB rating. Parents themselves should be monitoring what their child is being exposed to, if they feel that violence in games could influence the child. Most of the violent shootings you see in the news usually have the child have some sort of mental disorder. If a child has been raised properly or given medical care, chances are he/she would not become a serial killer. Blaming video games for the cause of violence is like blaming kitchen utensils for hurting your child.
