WHY do we need a story to tell us the beginning, is it even important at this point?

The beginning of how everything started, at this point, just seems kind of unimportant to me. Why does it matter how we got here? We should just be happy we are and concentrate on the present and future and stop running ourselves crazy trying to find the beginning.

I've been thinking a lot today, dont' ask, I may just be going crazy ;)

Humanity's insatiable thirst for knowledge is why we need a story for everything, let alone the beginning. We are hellbent on answering questions that only produce more questions, and I don't know why this is. And so it is considered important, because it gives us our fix. We just seem like a big group of junkies, craving a solution to everything.

I would love to know how everything started but I don't think for the reasons that you are talking about here.

Just because it is unimportant to you does not mean it is for everyone. I seek to understand everything. I will of course fail, but I shall strive for that goal.

But WHY is it so necessary to understand the beginning?

It doesn't change anything, it won't help any, it's just useless information.

I understand wanting to understand things, but only if I know it'll be useful.

I didn't say it was necessary at all. I said I want to, but if the history of science has told us anything, it as taught us that we often gain useful information seeking things that don;t seem very useful.

In terms of beginnings searching for the beginning of the universe is liable to help us understand the most fundamental structure of the universe and that will very likely help us to wondrous things. Seeking the development of species is basically the foundation all biology is based on. Understanding where humans came from will help understand what we are.

We thirst for knowledge because we seek its source, an the source of all knowledge is our creator. If we did not study the past their would memories, which would lead strait iinto the dark ages
