CreateDebate is a social debate community built around ideas, discussion and democracy.
If this is your first time checking out a debate, here are some quick tips to help get you started:
Arguments with the highest score are displayed first.
Argument replies (both in favor and in opposition) are displayed below the original argument.
To follow along, you may find it helpful to show and hide the replies displayed below each argument.
To vote for an argument, use these icons:
You have the power to cast exactly one vote (either up or down) for each argument.
Once you vote, the icon will become grayed out and the argument's score will change.
Yes, you can change your vote.
Debate scores, side scores and tag scores are automatically calculated by an algorithm that primarily takes argument scores into account.
All scores are updated in real-time.

When you are ready to voice your opinion, use the Add Argument button to create an argument.
If you would like to address an existing argument, use the Support and Dispute link within that argument to create a new reply.
This doesn't specify the context of the question. Is it which animal is better for pets? If so it's just a matter of opinion. If it is which animal is better in superiority it is a different matter. Cats in general are more superior to dogs. Dogs are dependent creatures. Cats have better agility, better instincts and a high intelligent level. While Dogs have these things they use it to do tricks for humans. Now one could say that Dogs have the better deal. They are provided for by humans because they are pets, but than it is little more than a prison to them. Cats to are pets as well, but they are usualy a lot more free than dogs are. So again Cats win.

Stealing an argument the negative side because I think it is a positive.
"Cats are intelligent, evil, and will do what they please."
Don't forget independent (which is basically do what they please). I like that quality about cats. They seem to be able to think for themselves unlike dogs.
Dogs are too dependent, need constant care and walking. You have to carry a bag around to pick up their crap. At least with a cat they go in a defined place (after being trained).
Cats can be cuddly and cute, dogs are more often slobbery
similar to dogs, cats can be playful but in a more entertaining way; laser pointers and catnip compared to dog slobber
cats can be left alone, dogs need a caretaker.
cats rule the house, my 150? pound dog was afraid of my frail, old, light, F.I.V. ridden cat; another cat of mine actually rode my sisters dog, claws in back. cats are brave, smart etc.
Dogs are way better they actually play with you unlike cats. Dogs like to run and play and cats jump around and make you sneeze. Cats scratch you and hurt you and rip curtains. Dogs are easier to train too
Dogs can be anything because there are so many breeds of them! so many sizes, looks, personalities... and there is only one breed of cat: EVIL. if you like friendly, small family dogs there is a nice beagle. if you are a loner and dont have a family, then a dalmatian or husky would be perfect. if you want to run with your dog, then a lab is perfect. cats cant do those things. they just sit there and eat your couch and demand food. instead of a thank-you they try to claw your eyes out. :) hands down, dogs are better. much more loyal than cats too.. and smarter 4 sure...
I would have to side with the dog for several reasons. There is a certain attachment you receive that you can't get with a cat. Dogs loyalty stretches beyond most humans with decent morality. Lastly, a dog's ferality is easier to control than that of a cat's.
I think the dog is better. I do not see any benefit from a cat, and in general I think they are vile. The dog truly man's best friend, always zaschetit, help, understand)
I keep that point that dogs are very useful for life. There a lot of types of dogs, however cats not as many as dogs. Dog (if it is big) can help you to fight, can save your house from robbers. Dogs can bring you mostly everything in your house, when you with laziness laying in your super comfortable sofa... however cats can't. Dogs can be so cute at the same time you could choose the biggest dog (alabai), which will help you to fight. Basically, dog will guard you!) now i really it is your bodyguard! Eventually, dogs are a lot better than cats.
dogs are better than cats because dogs are loyal and easier to train than cats. they do what its owner said and dogs are more active than cats, dogs play with you and they share their owner's loneliness and sadness together.
Personally I prefer dogs for the same reasons as Da Wolfman. Dogs have personality a dog will lay down beside its dead owner and die with him they are a life companion.
If you die in the morning your cat will start to eat you.
Dogs are loyal and forgive easily. I have two beagle puppies that love to run around underneath u. even if we accidentally step on one of them, sure they yelp. but in two minutes they will completely forget and forgive you. cats would try to claw your eyes out and then expect you to make them food.
My friend had a yellow lab named Cal and a cat named Missy. They were in california when someone left the door open and both pets escaped. They were both strays for 5 years until they were found. the dog whined with happiness when they pet him while the cat tried to run away, not even remembering them. That shows you how loyal and awesome dogs are.
Dogs are much better than cats. They are active and always greet you at the door, while cats tend to be sedentary and dull. There's a reason why dogs are called "man's best friend" and cats aren't.
