What Lays Between

If between yes and no lays _maybe_

If between black and white lays _gray_

What lays between wrong and right?

Add New Argument

From where I'm sitting, it appears that the word 'and' lays between 'wrong' and 'right.'

2 points

Those actions where the situation modifies the morality.

Killing is wrong. Killing to save a child might arguably be "right".

Given to the homeless is "right". Giving to them when you know for a fact they will just be purchasing drugs, might be considered wrong.

Either that or neutrality, actions which aren't really either "good" or "bad"....not necessary but not harming anyone.

Excellent. I was stuck with faith based answers like "there is nothing between right and wrong" and opinion based answers like "it depends on your preconceived notions".

Rather as you say its really situational ------- very good. Thank you.

right - moral dilemma - wrong

That's the most direct answer so far. Very good from a morals perspective. From a factual perspective, what lays between factually right and factually wrong.

What is "factually right" or "factually wrong" to begin with? Morality is inherently subjective...

I answered your question in another main argument. Please see it for my thoughts.

factually right - theory - factually wrong

Justice.

Well we used to understand that killing unborn Babies for any reason was wrong. After 50 years of Liberal Democrat thought it is now wrong to stand up for that child's right to life.

It used to be wrong to be a pregnant teen with no husband. Today it is a ticket to free social programs with no mention of the right or wrong.

It used to be that spanking our children when they misbehaved used to be the right responsible thing for a parent to do for the good of the child, teaching them respect for authority & teaching that there are consequences for bad behavior. Today those on the Left call you an abusive parent if you spank your child and that it will turn your child into an angry abusive adult when he grows up.

It used to be considered wrong & disgusting when a Father left his child to be raised by a cold distant Government program. Today, nothing is said as our welfare roles are filled with fatherless children.

It used to be that we respected our Churches for all the good they did for humanity. People did not fear simple prayers at beginning of school days. Parents actually wanted Christian teachers who would set good examples for the children to follow. Today the Church is treated like pariah's that need to separated from any mention in our public places. They are called hate mongering hypocrite Zealots if they dare repeat what their faith teaches. The right & wrong that was presented from the Bible stood our nation very well for centuries until anti Christian Liberals came along and pushed forth the lie of Separation of Church & state (nowhere in the Constitution). Oh they will lie & say they are not against the freedom of religious expression, just not here in our public places. As long as Christians keep their faith inside the four walls of a Church Liberals are ok with that.

Yes, right & wrong has been turned upside down & our nation's culture is reflecting the new anything goes no fault America.

I think your saying that the thing between morally right and wrong is shifting values, beliefs, perspectives. So is what lays between then, simply opinion?

I'm saying that our culture's sense of right or wrong is not in the middle. It has completely flip flopped. We have become the no fault America where we actually insult & judge any person who even dares mention morals & right & wrong. Remember when we started the no fault car insurance? Then they started the no fault divorce. This kind of amoral anything goes mentality has infiltrated our nation & our culture is being destroyed by it. There are over 70% of African American children in broken homes with no parents at home. Where is the outrage against these dead beat parents who abandon their children? There are huge increases in broken homes of White families also. We as a nation no longer lift up decent moral values that protect our children from harm. We should all be speaking out over the wrong of abandoning your children, or the wrong of one night stands, getting pregnant, the wrong of taking hard illegal drugs, & then expecting tax payers to support their irresponsible lifestyles.

Insecure Liberal Democrats have ushered in this anything goes culture because they hate the very mention of Christian moral values lifted up in the Bible. They want to censor any mention of right or wrong from our public.

Purgatory ;)

It depends on the sense the word is being used.

In the literal sense, as in is the answer wrong or is the answer right, the answer is either or. If it's part right, but missing anything important it's wrong, if it's adding anything wrong an unnecessary it's wrong.

In the sense that wrong and right are good and bad, then it depends on the person judging. Would you say it's right or wrong that a guy stole some food, to feed his family. The court systems say wrong, sympathetic people generally say right.

If a man steals food in this nation, he is a thief with no need for sympathy. Reason being we have free food everywhere. Food banks, Churches, Social programs. There is no excuse for stealing food.

What lays between right and wrong? Thought. This is probably the reason nobody else came up with the answer.

I don't think anything would lay between . I'm probably in the minority but I see things as either right or wrong and I very rarely see anything as a grey area . So I would have to say nothing lays between .
