What are Governor Rick Perry's Chances for President?

The governor of Texas, Rick Perry (R), has been receiving quite a bit of media attention in recent weeks for his bid for the presidency. The right sees him as a bastion of conservative ideals. The left sees a dogmatic lunatic. Can he make it to the primaries? The nomination?

The more exposure he gets the less favorable he'll be seen even by the republican party. His entire platform outside of the god stuff is jobs in Texas, the problem is the entire increase in the Texas job market is due to government jobs, which apparently don't count for some reason according to republican logic. He also likes to talk about how he balanced the budget, but he did so with Federal money and by cutting education. While republicans seem to hate education, they like Federal money even less. In everything outside of jobs Texas is horrible, one of the worst in education, healthcare, the least high school diplomas, one of the worst as far as a wealth gap, the list goes on.

I think Romney will win the nomination by default, even though his experience as a CEO is primarily taking over a company, firing a bunch of people, then selling the company for a profit. That's too confusing for the average republican primary voter to keep track of so they'll overlook it. Then again, he is mormon and did implement an excellent health system when he was governor. If there are two things the far right wing hates it's healthy people and mormons.

Romney or Perry though, it's great news for Obama

You're almost completely dismissing Ron Paul, who probably has the most fanatic supporters, even over Obama pre-election. They're spreading too. Romney's a diplomat, people will see this more as the race continues, most already have. He skirts around the tough questions and says what people want to hear. Paul is a leader, he wants to do what's right for the country, even if it isn't popular and won't be until people see how well it works. I'm voting for him or Johnson (if he can get some god damn attention) so at least they'll force the prohibition issue on Obama, proving prohibitionists wrong with simple facts, then we can end that BS

Rick Perry is a radical and the majority of American voters don't vote for a radical.
