What are your views on Christmas?

Do you believe it really is celebrating the birth of Christ?
Is it a commercial sham?
Do you love it regardless of Jesus' birth?

Say your piece.

I believe it honors a wonderful man who did wonderful things. So whether you believe he was God or not it's still worthwhile to celebrate.

I do believe the date was stolen from pagan celebrations for strategic reasons but I really don't care about that.

I believe it has become too commercial, but I also believe without some of the commercialism and fun add ons like Santa, etc, it wouldn't thrive the way that it does.

I believe it is my kids' favorite holiday, but we endeavor every year to make sure they understand this isn't just about gifts and fun.

And I believe my response, though balanced and fair, will elicity lectures and anger from the very religious members of this site.

It's a beautiful holiday, a great way to spend time with family and an excuse to travel to see them.

It brings magic to children and sometimes a little to adults who get in the Christmas spirit.

It's a time for tradition, faith, charity and loved ones.

Anyway Christmas in December is likely celebrating Jesus's conception, which technically would be His birthday into the Son of Man.

God laughs last ... See Psalms 2

That is a very mind blowing revelation to me. I never really thought of it in that way.

That is really good, I'm going to remember this.

I believe it's the celebration of the birth of Jesus Christ.

That's the winner! Your answer is obviously the truth, but the Left has turned it into everything but the celebration of Christ's birth.

This is why they censored our community's freedom to display or not display the nativity scene during Christmas!

You can't make this stuff up, it's too sickening. The bigotry from the Left is truly unamerican. They would rather you say happy holiday rather than Merry Christmas. They would rather you say Merry Xmas because their goal is to separate any mention of Christ on public land.

They play non stop secular Christmas songs, in the hopes our children forget the true meaning of Christmas.

I think it's a commercial sham but I don't hate it because I think almost all special events are commercial shams.

The Real Meaning of Christmas

The story’s told of a little girl who’s passing out the presents to her family on Christmas morning. After finding gifts for each member of her family, she was puzzled that there wasn’t a gift for the One whose birth was being commemorated. “I guess everyone forgot about Jesus,” she said ...... If you want a truly meaningful Christmas season, it stands to reason you need to grasp the true meaning of Christmas. Forget about Jesus and you’ve missed the entire, glorious point of the celebration ....... John MacArthur’s study The Real Meaning of Christmas helps you think of Christmas in a whole new way—in part because it looks at Bible passages you probably don’t associate with Christmas truth. This study can set the tone for a Christmas of real worship—one like you’ve never known ............. http://dadmansabode.com/forum/viewtopic.php?p=1840#p1840

On your birthday, you get presents.

On Jesus' birthday, everyone else gets presents.

Oddly enough, something about that really makes a lot of sense.

Except it's not his birthday, he was most likely born early September.

Do you believe it really is celebrating the birth of Christ?

Is it a commercial sham?

Do you love it regardless of Jesus' birth

D. All of the above.

Rabbit holes cause #JudgmentLust

Scripture is clear a day celebrated or not celebrated is not a matter of judgment.

Those who judge others according to days celebrated or not are in sin.

1 Corinthians 10

Colossians 2

And several more scriptures also!

If you do npt believe the NT and Paul's writings, then you are not of the brethren. But are an accusing pharisee. #ModernPharisee

Christmas is celebrated usually keeping in mind that this was the day Christ was born. But no matter if few people don't believe it. Christmas is always worth celebrating. It's the day where joy and love is shared and blessings are earned.

I'm for it. I like the presents and baby Jesus in a manger.*

@Mingodalia

Unlike most babies, Jesus could talk. So he would probably tell if you touched his wee wee.

It's fine to say Merry Christmas, regardless of who you say it to and what their beliefs are. I say Merry Christmas to my Muslim friends, Happy Hanukkah to my Christian friends, and celebrate Eid-Al-Fitr with my Jewish friends. No one gets offended, and no one should have to be restricted in what they say regarding holidays.
