I think Black Labs are the best pets because they are calm and submissive yet playfull when you want them to be.

Why does it have to be a black lab? Why not a yellow lab? Are you a colorist?

haha no, I'm just used to saying black lab because thats the kind of dog I have. But yeah, all labs make great pets.

Side: Black Lab

Holy Crap, I can agree with you on something! Labs are great. Mine isn't so calm though. She actually flips out when people visit. If you reach for her head and she doesn't know you she'll bite. But she's still great!

You've never had a lab puppy have you? Because my dog is the exact opposite...except the playful part that is.

Yes I have had a black lab puppy, when they are puppies they are not very calm and submissive, but if you train them right they will be.

What kind of dog do you have, how old?

I like Yorkies. Their tiny, mostly quiet, and really playful.

Psssh, purebred snobs. I don't believe in breeding animals when there are so many unwanted ones, and it is undeniable that mutts are by far the best dogs. They have all the best qualities of the different breeds, and a quirkiness that can't be matched.

My current squeeze is an Australian Cattle Dog mix, Maggie. I adopted her after she spent three years of her four-year life in shelters after being abused for her first year of life. She's been my companion for two years now, and she's the feistiest, most independent dog I've ever known! She's completely disobedient, but she's sharp as a tack and I love her dearly.

I agree completely. Every mutt is unique and mutts have less health problems than purebreed dogs, my mutt is, at eight years old, incredibly healthy. We have never had to take her to the vet because she is ill, she's only been for injections and check-ups.

Retriever.

Just as trainable and docile as labs I think. I had a golden retriever as a kid, a flock of birds kept swooping low in our back yard in IL. One afternoon, between this line of trees we had, and to a wooden fence by our neighbor's yard, they would go back and forth, coming only a few feet from the ground.

Untlil Melisa caught one in her mouth right out of the air.

It was the coolest thing I'd ever seen, and she was so happy to bring the disgustin bloody mess to my mom, who was completely disgusted.

That dog was great. She'd do whatever you told her, never barked unless something was going down, never crap or piss in the house.

I don't see how anyone who's ever owned a well trained real dog (medium to large) could ever settle for one of those yiping little rat dogs.

I have a 1/2 Boxer/1/2 Golden Retriever. She is super sweet and very nice and gentle. She isn't too active but she is a very kind and carring dog that knows when you are upset and can comfort you. (:

I also love Maltise/Poodle mixes. I had one and she was the best dog anyone could ask for. She was always so excited and jumped up and down when she saw me or anyone for that matter. And she was also very cute. Like she would hop up onto her hind legs and start dancing around for no reason at all...but then the coyottes found her in the middle of the day and tore her to shreads. )':

OH MY GOSH THATS SO SAD. thats weird tho. i had a beagle who was small. once in a while coyotes would jump in our yard. there were 2 baby coyotes and a mama and they loved to play with my beagle and never hurt her. i guess they didnt touch her cuz she couldve ripped them apart if she wanted 2. she was a hunting dog anyways.

Don't get hung up on the girlie dog cliche! Yorkies are the best pets!

They are known for the intelligence and ability to figure things out. This comes from their amazing hunting ability, where in the past they were required to decide how to get to rats and other vermin that they were tracking.

In addition to being very intelligent dogs, they are also very loving and loyal pets. They bond quickly to caring and loving people, and enjoy being a part of the family.

Yorkies love to be petted and enjoy spending time with humans and are truly a joy to be around.

Yorkshire Terriers tend to bond more strongly with mature people or older children, and can be sometimes a bit nervous of younger children.

If younger children are taught not to tease or scare the Yorkie they can get along very nicely.

As with any small dog, young children want to constantly pick-up and carry the Yorkie, and the Yorkie may find this handling stressful if the children are not taught to hold them properly.

They are terrific at protecting the house, yard and other possessions, and will bark loudly if any strangers approach their territory. Due to their small size they are not too intimidating, but they are great at letting owners know if strangers or strange animals are around.

You forgot the fact that they are as cute as a button!

Pitbulls

despite all bad things you hear about them if they're raised right they make really good pets. on the outcome of a temperament test they came out as 2nd after bull terriers. they're like part of the family and will protect your house and kids.

I love how ignorant people are about them though. i was walking my pitbull down the street a week ago and there was this lady and her 5 year old son walking like 10 feet in front of us. as soon as she realized we were behind them she took her son and stood on the other side of a car till we walked by. like my dog really would have hurt them.

Pit bulls do make great pets if they are trained properly. They've gotten a pretty bad rap because they can be trained to fight as well and their jaws just will not release until they are good and ready to!

As for that lady and her 5 year old, you've got to cut them a bit of slack. They don't know you or your dog and probably only know about the bad Pit bulls so they were scared!

i have had beagles my whole life. they are quirky, friendly and loving pets. although they are stubborn. my friend has a chocolate lab who will do whatever you say, is not aggresive at all and love to swim. beagles hate swimming. the mix is a chocolate beagle and are a medium sized dog. they color varies and the fur is either short or long. They are the sweetest dogs.

I believe that mongrels (Mutts) are best, they are proven to have less health issues so won't need to go to the vet most and also they are all different, in breeds basically all the dogs have the same features (I'm not saying they are exactly the same) but with mongrels (mutts) they never look the same

This si if I had to choose a dog breed but I actually think that any dog breed can be nice as long as the pet is brought up by good owners. I may be biased though as I have a mutt called Roxy and I believe she is beautiful and one of the best dogs I could have and my other dog is a crossbreed

I have a maltese/poodle mix.

No shedding. Very friendly. Compact. Cute.

Health problems include: Ear infections, skin infections. But if you treat them properly, they're the best.
