What defines a good debater, and what defines a bad one?
1. What do you think are good debating skills? Who do you think is a good debater on CD, and what in particular is good with her debating?
2. What do you think are bad debating skills? Who do you think is a bad debater on CD, and what in particular is bad with his or hers debating?
3. Notice I used female pronouns for the first question, and male pronouns for the second.
4. Relax men, it's a joke.
I will not answer in accordance to your flawed notions towards what a debate truly is. A debate is simply enlightenment of furthering your knowledge. The one who can't respond to the last persons statement/question is usually the best debater because he learned the most from it all. 1

I will not answer in accordance to your flawed notions towards what a debate truly is Well ... you just did?? I didn't say what I personally thought was a good debater, in my debate I only ask questions, I didn't say whom I thought was good. So you can't say anything according to me on this particular debate. 1

A good debater is someone who listens to (or reads) their opponents arguments and tries to counter them A bad debater is someone who does not listen (or read) and just trots out the same old arguments over and over as if repetition of something will make up for being unable to counter the argument or hide the fact you haven't been paying attention 1. What do you think are good debating skills? Who do you think is a good debater on CD, and what in particular is good with her debating? Good debating skills are presenting good arguments and having evidence to support your claims. Opinions are acceptable but, they do not win debates. Editing and proper grammar. 2. What do you think are bad debating skills? Who do you think is a bad debater on CD, and what in particular is bad with his or hers debating? Useless statements that help no one learn anything and simply done for the sake of attention are in adherence to bad debating skills. Everyone has been guilty of this once or twice at the very least on this site. Myself included. Being unable to defend your position with facts and resort to hypothetical situations and repetitive notions that lead nowhere. Two examples. (1.) from the "Does the burden of proof rest with the one making the claim" I was forced to repeat myself over and over again but I used facts to combat such claims as "Those making a testimony are making a claim but, they do not receive the burden of proof in court." the reason for this is that these people are the proof for those who are trying to prove someone is either guilty or innocent. is an example of good debating. (2.) from the "should you open carry?'' debate where I was confronted and the entire argument was of hypothetical scenarios where my opponent insisted on a one way hypothetical while completely ignoring all evidence I had provided to support my claim. An armed society is a polite society. Bad debating 3. Notice I used female pronouns for the first question, and male pronouns for the second. Yes, I didn't particularly care. Just found it strange at first. 4. Relax men, it's a joke. ... |
