What does the 9th Amendment mean???

Just because the constitution spells out certain rights, should not be used to deny other rights the people have but are not written in the constitution. OR, in other words just because the constitution doesn't list something as a legal right doesn't mean that it isn't a legal right and the lack of a right being in the constitution cannot be used as an argument to deny that right. Where does the Constitution enumerate the Rights to life, property, self defense, or the pursuit of happiness? There are numerous rights not enumerated in the Constitution, or anywhere else. The 9th Amendment states that failing to enumerate Rights does not mean the people do not retain them. Rights are a moral construct before they are a legal construct. Side: We have more rights

It means they thought of 8 other Amendments before they got around to that one. Ba dum dum. It also means the Constitution is not the sole listing of what is considered a right of the people, meaning the constituent States each may think of more and define others not listed there. Or not. It doesn't automatically mean other rights definitely exist, only that the possibility isn't ruled out. Side: I dunno
