What happened to America?
We went from an industrail nation to an entertainment nation. Is entertainment that important, that we wrecked a nation for our own amusement?

Movie stars, rock stars, and paid athletes is what appears to be important here in the USA. These are the best paid jobs. What does entertainment contribute to society? America, land where drug users are role models. America, where it pays to play. What happened to America? We flushed integrity and values down the drain for the price of a ticket. Side: Played on it

H'mm I'm not sure it's "disgusting the way it is now", when the US was butchering native Americans, that was pretty much more disgusting than it is now (Is Custer and national hero out there or is he reviled as I hope he is?) Slavery? Witch hunters? I think it's got better in the grand scheme of things no? Soon you'll even have public healthcare and you'll be almost as good as the rest of the world. Can't be all that bad? Side: It's still there last time I looked
Sorry how is this wanting to become like the UK? You want a monarchy, an unelected second house, no flag waving, bad weather? I don't see how the debate suggests the US would end up like the UK. And btw my country's "systems" are better than your country's systems :P Side: It's still there last time I looked
If you read the question details it included that industrial word which your country started. Fortunely we didn't go that very grey route that you guys went. The systems we have are not one sided and created by one community. Our systems are created by the American citizens which include a lot of races of the world that intend to have helped everyone. So your country needs to learn from our success and stop being so one minded and become more versitle. Side: Some people cant handle success
Hey man it pays to play EVERYWHERE, just in America instead of sports like soccer, tennis, and other sports here in the USA the main focus is basketball and football. Stop acting like America is the only place where role models are the drug users ... ever notice that most of the earlier rockstars all had heavy English accents? Either they really wanted to be from England or they were from England. So really what I am geussing you are trying to say is "what happened to the WORLD?" Side: nada if you look at the world

Well in countries like England and Brazil the people pay for the stadiums through taxes same as we do. I dont know about other countries they may be different. America is the most powerful nation in the world. We generate more income than anyone else, we have the worlds strongest military, but that doesn't mean that we are better than everyone else. Here in America we treat everyone as equals and I think that is one of the main reasons why we are one of the best countries in the world. We give freedom of speech, freedom to choose what you want to become, and freedom to choose your life. Thats what makes us such a great country. Side: come on
Basically I think we went on a power and money trip. We decided that we can spend money on really stupid stuff because we felt we had nothing else to work for, and didn't care enough to work for the betterment of others, or ourselves. We became powerful globally, and abused that power. Basically America is just kind of a land of indulgence, apathy, irresponsibility, and....lots of screens. Like the one I'm behind right now. Three cheers for hypocrisy. :P Side: come on

SOrry for disputing your post, again. America didn't really abuse the power. America simply started being really ineffient after 1970s. Some bad things have already occured during the 30s after World War I, but that wasn;t a big deal, such as minimum wage and such as certain governmental false spendings. Side: come on
