What is more important? Facts or feelings?

A lot of people (especially liberals, sjws, etc) think that facts have no place in an argument and feelings have more power in said debates than facts. This is obviously complete BS but people are stupid

I think both are equally important. However, you shouldn't let your feelings control you

I think one doesn't have to be mutually exclusive from another and it will always depend on the situation. I tend to lean more towards appreciating fact but someone can still have respect for another's feelings in the matter.

Is this seriously an argument supporting Trump? He acts ONLY on feeling. Any fact is fake news.

Is that not what Progressives act on is feelings ? Facts are something Progressives just can't deal with in the bubble for which they exist ! Take a look at college campie where Progressives need safe spaces , crayons , puppy dogs to deal with reality and facts. No denying that !

You are going off the track. Does this argument siding towards one subject? Definitely not. Moreover, you are making a groundless claim, based on your own opinions not supported by any valid evidence. Hence, your point is invalid.

Facts are always more important. The rub, however, is what the right wingers consider to be "facts" often are not. Case in point - Donald Trump constantly puts out facts which fact checkers prove not to be. He in fact tells more lies than any US President or Presidential candidate in recorded history.

What facts are often not as you perceive to see it ? Remember "Like Your Doctor , Keep Your Doctor and Keep Your Plan" was a lie ! Do we really need to get into all the lies of Barack Obama !

But we must understand the Progressives can only exist on feelings not any facts !

Neither is wholly more important than the other: without facts, and understanding and application of said facts, we'd be little more than animals, and without feelings (including both emotions and urges) we'd simply be organic machines. Thus, each has their own purpose, with a significant overlap between them.

In regards to specifically argumentation (as implied by the OP), however, feelings have little importance, while facts are (one would hope) the entire basis for the debate. The only two manners I can think of in which feelings would enter into a rational debate would be if it were on a sensitive or passionate topic (and thus affect both parties), in which case they would serve to the discussion's detriment, or if the subject of the argument in question was feelings, in which case their involvement would be indirect.

Of course, that's not to stop our finest, latest generation of college graduates from denying reality itself and using their feelings about an issue as an argumentative basis, rather than understanding the facts surrounding the matter.

The world itself will crush your feelings more than anything. You can hide in your corner, crying about anything under the Sun, but it will not change anything. Facts brings results. Feelings do not matter when lives are on the line.

Facts don't care about your feelings. For example: Those who consider themselves as trans gendered are people who thinks they are a boy or a girl. This is biologically false. Yet they insist in dictating people to except them so their feelings wont get hurt. Why should I destroy my basic knowledge of biology just so you can feel safe? Since when did the right to free speech become the right to feel comfortable? Some of you think this is an extreme view but you have no idea how important facts are. Caring about feelings mad New York an economic death zone for conservatives who love the first Amendment. There is a law here where if I were to miss gender someone, I could be fined $250,000. If I speak out against Black Lives Matter and how they are a domestic terrorist organization, I am labeled a racist. If I speak out against radical Islamic Terrorism, I am labeled an Islamophobe. Most, but not all, of those who choose feelings over facts are the ones who believes that the truth when inconvenient should be silenced. That my friends, is Fascism.

My feelings are very important to me. Hope this helps :)

There can be no conscious thought without the electrical impulses that make it up. Sensation -- either external or internal, cognitive or otherwise -- is the precursor to formed thoughts, opinions, the very interaction between the cerebral and the physical, and is thus necessary to discern facts. So in a purely chronological sense, feeling is more important than fact.

Take this notion as an illustration: a blind, deaf, legless, armless, mute paraplegic. He doesn't sense anything about the world he inhabits. For him, there are no facts, because there is no sensation of the outside world. We require sensation -- feeling -- in order to form a picture of what lies outside our own thoughts. We need feeling in order to determine fact.

Side: Feelings

Arguments are more important. Reason is, as it ought to be, a slave of passions.

Also, considering that you don't seem smart enough to debate, I'd guess you searched the wrong keyword while choosing the website to join - what sort of a debate is this?

I agree that we should not allow our feelings to control us. However, facts are the one who affects our feelings. As what Helen Keller once remarked, “The best and most beautiful things in the world cannot be seen or even touched. They must be felt with the heart." Facts gives a certain boundary to a topic. However, it ultimately depends on our emotions to accept reject it. The emotions we put forward affects our way we initiate facts. For example, scientists like Issac Newton's Theories only came about with how his emotions of curiosity sparked his innovation and curiosity to find out more. It is true that facts can't be wavered since it is solid. However some facts are still debated.
