What is more popular than the Tea Party? Cuba!

According to a recent CNN/Opinion Research Poll, only a third of Americans view the Tea Party movement favorably. [1]

On the other hand, 38 percent of Americans have a favorable view of Cuba [2]

There you have it. Most Americans choose aromatic cigars, Cuban rum, pristine, exotic beaches and Fidel Castro over freedom.

You forgot one thing, Cuban beauties. You can't expect us (males, at least) not to like Cuba for their nude beaches.

You know..., you're right. I hate tea. Now if they had a beer party... ;)

I found your title post to be incredibly misleading.

The stats you post claiming that Cuba has a 38% favorable rating are legit, but you leave out that fact that just about everyone who took the poll had an opinion rather than being unsure and the result of that was that the approval rating was where it was at.

I'll just copy and paste my post from my other argument because I'm too lazy to make up a new one.

However, it looks like you cherry picked data from the Tea Party poll in order to make it look like a movement that people hate.

- You claimed that less than a third of Americans have favorable views of the Tea Party. According to that poll 33% have a favorable view, which is exactly one third, not less.

- What you left out was the fact that only 26% of Americans have an unfavorable view of the movement and by leaving this stat out you are misleading everyone who reads your post without bothering to check the results out.

- You have also left out the fact that 40% of Americans actually have no opinion of the movement, which means it is still somewhat unknown rather than hated like you imply in your post.

I had read another source which expressed the poll results as "less than 1/3", but you are correct, the story I linked to and the pdf file with additional poll data does say the favorable rating was 33 percent. The favorable rating for Cuba is 38 percent. To me that means it is "more popular". That more people have strong opinions about Cuba people (the high disapproval rating) and that most people have never heard of the Tea Party does nothing to change the fact that 38 is greater than 33. Unless you can prove to me that 33 is more than 38, I stand by my claim.

A WSJ/NBC News Poll taken in December has the Tea Party listed at about 41%(1).

But let's assume that your poll is the only one. I suppose that technically you are right, but it is not exactly the best indicator for popularity. Seeing as there are currently more people who support the Tea Party then reject it I would say that it would not be too far of a stretch to say that at least 6% of the 24% of people who don't know what the movement is would agree with the movement if they only knew what it was. That 6% would make it beat Cuba, which is only winning because everyone already knows about Cuba.

Cuba is free and has better healthcare then The USA. Also it was Cuban doctors who invented the lung cancer vaccine.
