I can hardly see in dark. I'm so glad he invented that. I'd be dead by now otherwise..

I think being able to see in the dark...trumps anything else. My vote would go to Thomas for his invention of the electric light bulb. He also was more than just an inventor...he was a scientist. I read somewhere that he held over 1500 patents. Wow.

He obviously was a brilliant man.

Without Edison's invention, I wouldn't be able to read at night, or work on homework. I wouldn't even be able to play games with friends when we have a late night party. Sleepovers would suck, because you'd actually sleep instead of play. Therefor my vote goes to Tomas Alva Edison. I really like being able to see in the dark. However I think Franklin was a better inventor.

Side: Thomas Alva Edison

His invention has brought about many, many things far after his death. I would have to say, Thomas Alva Edison was perhaps the better inventor on this matter. If not the better, then the more important.

Side: Thomas Alva Edison

Edison is still better ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! !! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! !! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! !!

At least Thomas Edison is not a lair Tesla said that he made a death ray.

This is plain and simple!! The telephone couldn't have been used or invented like we use it now (with electricity) if Edison hadn't invented/founded electricity...

Side: Thomas Alva Edison

Edison is the better inventor when quantity is concerned. I have Edison to thank for movies.

Made the a effective version of the light bulb , a better telephone, motion pictures, the Edison effect(two wires in a vacuum with electricity running through them are induce to flow to the wires) and the most patents in US history.

Actually current historical thought is that Nickola Tesla made most of Edison's inventions while they were working together. Edison was a hack who barely knew the first law of thermodynamics. Tesla was the one who made "his" inventions practical, and actually invent flourescent lightbulbs, which 1/5th the power of incandescent. He invented an A/C power grid, tesla coils used in radios and televisions and early robotics.

Side: Nickola Tesla

I completely agree !

Edison made the battery powered telephone. So Edison was whom you can talk and walk.(unless you have a pretty long wire)

Oh I'm sure... But coupled with the better version of Telephone that Bell created. Anyway,it doesn't matter cuz I'm Thankful to both of them.

Edison did little actual work, he hired people to do this (Menlo Park). All he did was decide what direction to take the work; continue, discontinue, etc.

This is not true. He was friends with one of my ancestors and he was an extremely hard working man. There is no way with all the patents attributed to him that he could have been lazy. If someone else had invented it...we would have known about it. He was brilliant and had an appetite for learning. Fromm the time he was young he worked...some very menial jobs. He did all this almost totally deaf. Menlo Park at Greenfield Villiage is awesome and it should be its a national historic site.

Bump up for Telsa.

Nikola Tesla and Thomas Edison were opponents in The Battle of the Currents

Edison did a bunch of dirty tricks.

Telsa died totally broke. :(

Holy shit. I just removed Edison from my inspiration people list.

Well you should add Nicola Tesla instead, Edison was a second rate scientist next to him.

Side: Alexander Gram Bell

You should remove him from your list. The link below tells you why.
