What is your opinion on personality(typology) classification systems(not the crappy ones)

Not worth studying if you don't understand that the descriptions of the 4 letter type templates and cognitive function descriptions are not static. Not worth studying if you're incapable or too lazy to lay out all the details and make connections with real life observations. Most people that call it bullshit, hardly do any research. I kind of find it funny that it indirectly explains why someone that has educated themselves on the subject , would still call it BS.... As it gives explanations for the way we cognition... But it does so in a very annoying way. Using words like "Introverted Intuition" and "Extroverted Thinking" confuses a lot of people because they try to extrapolate meaning from the term name rather than actually studying the term. "Drrr I know what Introverted and Intuition means! Da answers am clear now." The names are not to be taken literally... I'd like to study it academically. The unwise have tainted Google search with their inaccuracies. They're gimmicks. Employers often pay to trot these things out for the sake of team building. And then folks sit in a room and all talk about what makes them tick and there are a few "a-ha" moments, and then everyone goes home or back to work and forgets all about it. I'm not saying you can't learn anything from them. I just saying putting your emphasis on them to make a point about yourself or others really just makes you annoying, not actually successful in the point you're trying to make. People are best off simply learning how to interact as individuals rather than as types defined on a PowerPoint slide. Been through several and I find they plan out every minute of one's work day and I do mean every minute. There is no free time and so I found it humorous when something as always is over looked and you can't get to the problem to fix it because all your time has been scheduled. |
