What makes a genius a genius?

One is only a genius if society deems one rich enough to be called so. Many a genius lay in an unmarked grave. “A poor man wise is like a sacred book that’s never read. To himself he lives, to all others seems died. This age thinks more of a gilded fool, than a thread bare saint in wisdom’s school.” Thomas Dekker Someone free to think for himself and has a good sense for what is true and beautiful. So a genius is someone who knows how to think outside the box, and is able to bring something useful back from his journeys. They say that there's a fine line between being a genius and being a madman. The distinction probably lies in the fact that the madman is lost, while the genius knows how to find the way home. |
